While not many details about Summer Lesson were revealed, they shared a few quotes from testers who were amazed at how well it fits with virtual reality system of the Project Morpheus.

Summer Lesson is a communication game that is being made to achieve the most realistic sense of interaction possible, and will be available to try out at Tokyo Game Show 2014.

It’s starting to get a little scary how far technology is coming along for these reasons, lol.

  • John Hayabusa

    Dat Harada-san with iM@S T-shirt.

  • Stranger On The Road

If she is going to teach us Japanese, then I’m buying 2 of them :-)

The design is good (although, more real than anime) and the animation is excellent. Plus the concept makes good use of the virtual reality headset…. me really really like. Now let her teach us Japanese please :-)

    • Max Leo

I know this is a late reply, but that’s actually a great idea for VR, interacting with someone in VR that teaches you a langauge, while you interact with many things related to what she is teaching you. Total immersion really helps when learning a language, this can help people who can’t afford to stay several months in another country to learn fast.

      • Stranger On The Road

if they can do something about the controller, then you could use the headset to change the environment that you study or work in. Imagine working on your project while sitting in a forest, or on a snow mountain, or by the beach, while still being in your room/office in the city.

To help with the immersion, let the person be inside a enclosed glass box, this way the difference between the virtual environment and the physical room can be mitigated.

Really looking to the VR and what can be done with it :-)

  • Armageddon

I might actually want to study for once.
    On another note:
    Imagine, the eroge potential :D.

  • Isuke-sama

The graphic reminds me of those H PC game like Real Kanojo.

    • aizen310

Real Kanojo had worse graphics IMHO.

      Screw real life.

    • PreyMantis

      Is-is Siliconera accepting gifs now?

  • Tarkovsky

Man, I really love Harada san. He knows how to embrace his inner otaku and was even wearing an Idolmaster shirt haha. Unfortunately, this will get flamed and criticized by the western media.

  • Guest

Will it sell better than Love Plus? DEFINITELY

  • AlphaSixNine

Time to save money for Project Morpheus… whenever that comes out

  • Hagaren

    Next gen pen dropping mechanics.

Sort of interesting – I mean, it’s cool that someone (ANYONE) is working on making more convincing, more interesting & engaging game characters. There are way too many people focusing just on gfx, and that alone is not going to push games ahead for this next generation.

On the other hand, this is the Tekken Team, and that’s weird. Also, this is Japan, and that’s weird too. Ever since the Rift has become available there, it seems like everyone has just been trying to make virtual girlfriends a thing… which is… not cool, Japan. This kind of thing is almost “legitimizing” that kind of weird stuff. Don’t cross any weirdness line here, Harada – step carefully.

I mean, A LOT of the work done so far by hobbyist devs is creepy sex stuff, pervy stuff, and voyeuristic stuff. Usually involving Hatsune Miku. Just put in “Japanese Oculus Rift demo” and look at the results: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Japanese+Oculus+Rift+demo

    • Tarkovsky

And your point is? How is this legitimizing anything? Is developing or playing a game like this going to make you a sexual predator? If so, then is shooting in games legitimizing murder? Is everything in GTA legitimizing and encouraging hijacking, stealing, robbing and killing innocent people? Ultimately, games are games and it’s just fantasy.

Also, not much info has been provided yet. How do you know there’s going to be sex involved? If anything, based on the footage, it’s like visiting a host/hostess bar and interacting with the host/hostess there. Even if there is sex, what’s wrong? Are you actually raping or molesting somebody while wearing the virtual headset? With regards to your point about Hatsune Miku, is she a real person? Are you condemning people’s fantasies now even though they are not doing anything to hurt anybody in real life? People who are perfectly fine in the head can separate what’s fantasy and reality and they should be able to do whatever they want as long as they’re not breaking the law or hurting anybody. Just some things to think about.

yea lets ban porn! it poison our mind!

ps same could be said of TV, its not invented for porn and creepy american started creepy sex stuff, pervy stuff, and voyeuristic video

  • wahyudil

love on the first sight … but I doubt I want to buy Morpheus just for this …

    • Ultima-X

You’d be surprised how many people go out of their way for a dating sim in Japan though.

  • ineedgames

    Who needs real Waifus anymore?

  • Kai2591

Here comes the waifu VR games…..
    Brace yourselves.

….I wonder if them Love Plus producers will make use of this technology to achieve super girlfriend realism…?
Love Plus for PS4 with Morpheus support? That would be both awesome and scary…

Btw the girl reminds me of Anzu from Prison School.

    • Black Heaven

That one time when one guy married his (oblivious) Love Plus waifu, the world was quite baffled.

Through Morpheus (and possibly Oculus Rift, if they get to have more gesture commands), in a few years we’ll probably think it’s just normal.

I wonder if it’ll affect their work environment?
“Kachou (boss), may I take my leave early? I have a ‘waifu’ waiting for me at home, and she is desperately in need of my personal attention.”

      • Kai2591

That employee must have really lost it if he (or she?) would abandon his job for a fake waifu….or perhaps he can’t be blamed entirely, because the realism has evolved to extreme levels…

  • mojack411

Well now I have to try this out when I go to TGS.

    • AndyMAX

      Try to see her pantsu.

  • Sion12

This make me wonder how do you stop people with oculus/Morpheus looking up skirt? because dont lie you will do it at some point.

Hopefully new slient hill game support Morpheus

    • Bryan

Give the girl a 1 feet invisible barrier. And she covers her skirt when you start bending down haha

  • Asuna Ilano

Now I wonder how many Japanese will marry their digital girlfriends this time, haha.

    • Armageddon

The number will skyrocket if this gets to be the future and it may not stop at japan either.

    • Ni ~Algidus~

      *in the near future*
“We from Konami are glad to present you…Love Plus VR for Pi Ehsuh Fo and Project Morpheus”
and then Japan’s birthrate will hit the negative numbers

      • Bryan

        People dying from massive spermorrhage?
Haha I kind of hope they actually do it though. The game that is.

  • Go2hell66

i swear namco is working on literally everything…

    • Spirit Macardi

Except for a new Klonoa game…

  • Hagaren

Senpai Simulator 2014. The one game where senpai will ALWAYS notice you.

  • hairyoldman

Haha… yeah, this won’t help Japan’s birth rate.

But at this point, enough people have opted out traditional relationships that there’s a sizable market for these games to cater to, and as they get more compelling to compete for that market, it can only grow in size.

I’m not sure if it’s healthy for people to use technology to meet their emotional needs, because it seems to take the idea of escapism to an unhealthy extreme, but at a certain point (once AI progresses, and once technology can simulate the sense of touch), I can see this kind of software being therapeutic and having an overall positive influence. Right now, we’re only seeing the beginning.

  • Göran Isacson

The touching story of a virtual girl and the quiet moments she spent with her friend, between the everyday frustration and happiness in their normal life… until we find out the girl was THROWN INTO A VOLCANO BY HER MOM BUT MADE A CONTRACT WITH THE DEVIL TO GET OUT! And the game ends with the friend being shot by the zaibatsu troops and we die in her arms, as she swears vengeance and gives herself to evil and power now that the life of quiet and solitude she thought she had earned is cruelly stripped away from her!

Excellent decision, team Tekken. I will buy five copies.

    • Ni ~Algidus~

      If only…

  • icup ✔️

    summer lesson sounds lewd.

  • Cybersteel

Saw the video about it. Looks like we’ll get to enjoy and endless Summer soon lol

  • Bryan

If only they make one to teach us Japanese now…

  • Bryan

Wonder when they can make Anime characters in VR a reality. Not 3D looking ones. Just somehow make Anime characters work in a VR setting…. Damn I guess they’d have to be 3D

  • http://playstationallstars.wikia.com/wiki/PlayStation_All-Stars_Wiki Sackchief

If it’s realistic enough, it could be really cool.

God bless the great Nippon!!! What would our sad world be without them.
