Studio Mebius, the company that remade Steel Empire for Nintendo 3DS, is working on a Sengoku-era game. Their title, Ishi Sengoku-den Sadame, is different from Koei Tecmo’s Samurai Warriors series since players will hack and slash monsters.

Ishi Sengoku-den Sadame has monsters from Japanese folklore with a style reminiscent of Muramasa: The Demon Blade or perhaps the Oreshika series.

Ishi Sengoku-den Sadame has four playable characters a Samurai (long sword / wakizashi as sub-weapon), Ninja (kusarigama / shuriken as sub-weapon), Yamabushi (cane / hougu or prayer beads as a sub-weapon), and Kabuki (naginata / bow as sub-weapon). The game has a system where if you have two or more save data files the other character you played as shows up as a NPC in the game you’re playing. Weapons can be enhanced by using jewels.

Ishi Sengoku-den Sadame will be released this year as a downloadable Nintendo 3DS game in Japan.
