Tales of the World: Reve Unitia Shows Tales Characters Duking It Out

By Sato . September 25, 2014 . 1:51am

Tales games have always been about cameo appearances, but Tales of the World: Reve Unitia will bring more heroes than ever from the series’ universe in a world called Revalia. The game’s latest trailer shows us a closer look at the characters and the dream world.

To catch you up to speed, Asbel and other Tales characters wake up in the unknown world of Revalia, without any recollection of their past memories, apart from their names. The world is facing a crisis from the threat of an evil known as Vule.

While the Tales characters don’t know what’s going on, they get split into two groups, with each of them having their own story in Tales of the World: Reve Unitia. The trailer shows Asbel and Yuri fighting, which is probably due to some sort of conflict that arises between the groups.

One group goes with the little green character known as Terun, who asks for help in defending the Lufres’ village from the Vule. The other group is with Nahato, a blue spirit-like creature that is considered the strongest of the Dream Keepers, who were in charge of sealing the Vule.

As it turns out, Revalia is what connects all of the worlds together. If those who are asleep and dreaming in the “Awakened Worlds” happen to die while in Revalia, they’ll never wake up in their real worlds, so hopefully, they’ll find a way to all work together in the end.

Tales of the World: Reve Unitia is slated for release in Japan on October 23, 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.

I was really excited for this until I found out it’s only for the 3DS, so I’ll probably never get to play this since the 3DS is region locked and this game probably won’t be released outside of Japan

    • Princess_Eevee9

Bandai has been generous lately with localizing games.

      • Ralopoz

This game combines all Tales games, even the ones that haven’t been localized, so I doubt Bamco will localize this since it requires knowledge of games that haven’t been released in English

        • Scourge626

Not really. Project X Zone had the same issue and it was still released across the world.

      • CycloneFox

Only when it comes to Playstation Tales of games. Remember Graces or any other niche game on Nintendo-consoles?

Nintendo in the west doesn’t support the niche market too much, sometimes not even the market of anything related to third party JRPGs.

        • Destiny13777

It shouldn’t really be up to Nintendo themselves to handle all the support for a game just because it’s on there console. They did promote the hell out of Symphonia back in the day and Namco Bandai was dumb enough to think that bit of word of mouth was enough to sell the PS2 games with little fanfare so they bombed. It’s only been recently (specifically Graces F and Abyss 3D) they managed to get back on there feet with releases because they actually promote the Tales series now. And I wouldn’t say they don’t support the niche market, I mean they’ve been doing great stuff with Atlus like the Persona Q bundle and the FE/SMT promotion in NA, then we recently had the success of Bravely Default that Square didn’t have faith in. They usually promote most of the upcoming games on there Youtube no matter the genre or if it’s eshop only, similar to how Playstation does it on there channel.

Meanwhile, Tales of heroines are cooking together.

    • Wild Espurr

Meanwhile no signs for a NA release.

    • Land of Green Pasture

what? they can cook? I didn’t hear anything about this!! :V

    • Princess_Eevee9

They better not let Raine anywhere near the food.

  • Postnjam

All Tales of male character fights

“I’m better at making awkward situation involving hot springs”

“Bitch please! I was making awkward situations before you were born!”

“You stole my tiger blade arte”

“You stole MY tiger blade arte”

    • Princess_Eevee9

“Oh no he’s got a Demon Fang everybody run! “

  • Princess_Eevee9

All these recently announced games with early release dates I’m going to start 2015 broke yaaay.

  • Kuhile Brodeur

They’re using songs from other Tales games too!!! I will buy this if it is localized. So please localize it. I have preordered every Tales game that’s come out in the passed four years and have at least gotten the other ones at some point! I’ve been a good boy…

  • Prinnydoom

Yep…think I am giving this one a miss. Tales of with this strategy element doesn’t fit.

  • Mike Pureka

I have only two hopes for this game:

#1) That it get localized (Hey, I was CONVINCED it would never happen with Project X Zone, and it did.)
#2) That the actual gameplay not be completely awful. -_- (I consider this a legitimate concern.)

    • fairysun

      In addition to that …
#3) Make Pascal and Malik playable
#4) And fabulous Jade needs to be there.

      • Mike Pureka

Meh; I don’t care about the Graces cast except for Sophie, so whatever to Pascal and Malik.

        Jade is already in. :P

        • Every Tales crossover is in desperately need for sexy manliness that is Marik.

His absence in RM3 was unforgivable!

    • Spirit Macardi

You’d think it’d be the easiest game in the world to dub certainly. Between Johnny Yong Bosch, Sam Riegel, Matt Mercer, and Laura Bailey you have most of the cast accounted for.

  • William Carpenter

Gahhh, I would love to see this localized. Has it been mentioned anywhere at all? Has Namco expressed any interest?

  • Spirit Macardi

Okay, between the way that Asbel arrived in the dream world in the middle of a forest, one of the characters being named Nahato, and Terun being a floating green spirit that can shift between that and a humanoid form, I’m now absolutely convinced that this game was originally going to be a Tales and Klonoa crossover x3

Maybe there’s still a chance too. Last time I went to the site the character list seemed like it had two open slots; possibly the Dream Traveler and a certain gun-toting canine may make an appearance~

  • HerosLight

Did they change Stahn’s JP VA? Sounds really different.

    • Rebellion14

No it’s still Tomokazu Seki (according to the trailer).

  • Göran Isacson

Saw “Dream Keepers”, got Dream Drop Distance flashbacks. One hopes this cross-over madness won’t go QUITE that far…

  • British_Otaku

Only played Abyss 3DS (in English, but I’ll import the Japanese version soon enough) but this will probably be one of my purchases towards the end of the year if I get good word of mouth about it.

  • awat

chances are low but i will keep my fingers crossed for this baby , Namco Please NA/EU Release THank you <3

  • k.b.a.

though i gave up on tales after phantasia, i always hold out hope they will SMASH-ify this game [like many other everythings ever]

    but yknow good.
