Toukiden Kiwami Producer Wants To Bring The Game To Home Console

By Sato . October 28, 2014 . 8:20am

Toukiden Kiwami released in Japan earlier this Summer, and it looks like producer Takashi Morinaka already has some ideas for the future of the series, which he briefly talked about in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Hachima.]

During the interview, Morinaka expressed that while the PSP and Vita versions of Toukiden was enjoyed by many, the presentation on PSP was limited due to the hardware.

With that in mind, he commented about how he’d like to improve on the series’ presentation by bringing Toukiden to home consoles. He also mentioned that many fans from abroad have also asked about a home console version, which he believes can happen with enough demand.

Morinaka said that the idea is to be able to play the portable version on-the-go, while being able to go home and play on the TV with a console.

Toukiden Kiwami will release in North America and Europe in 2015.

  • Interesting that God Eater has gone in this direction too.

    • It just shows how little fate they have in the Ps TV. so sad T.T

      • dboyz

I bet PS TV will be another still born after XBone

    • subsamuel01

It’s all business, if they ever bring the game to the west the PS4 is the smartest option to put the game on.

  • Rayhan PromisedGallery

    Toukiden Musou
    Toukiden Hyper
    Toukiden Ultimate
    Toukiden Empires

  • Money?Muney??All my luveee!!!

I guess they are going to PS4 to target more international demographics here.^_^

If God Eater is able to do well, we can see this one do well too there.

  • Pandakids09 .

Really hope this just makes it to ps3 since it needs more hunting games

  • DesmaX

Well, there is a lack of hunting games on consoles compared to handhelds, so it’s nice to see more coming

  • Nhatalya

Do it. Toukiden is seriously one of the best game(s) Koei have created since many years now. We’re tired of DW.

    • KazukiNanbu

      i’m not

      • Rwokkefeller

        me neither

      • dboyz

        same here

    • subsamuel01

      I actually enjoy DW

    • Lastlight

      I’m tired of DW…
But I love me some SW lol

  • persona_yuji

    Well… there’s the Vita TV. It’s something I guess.

    • Yes but for some reason most of the want to move there games to ps3 or ps4 when the ps vita has vita tv.

  • Godmars

Should have been Monster Hunter clones on home consoles ages ago…

  • Isuke-sama

God Eater didn’t get a PS3 release, but I hope this one will. I want to have a piece of Toukiden version of Alisa.

And give me a Toukiden anime darn it!

    • subsamuel01

Yea, but God Eater 2 is coming to PS4.

      • Isuke-sama

        That’s why I said it didn’t get a PS3 release.

        • planetofthemage

If you just say God Eater, most people assume you’re talking about the first one.

  • Learii

this be great I always want to play games like this on console

  • I’d like to see it on consoles too, and PC. Omega Force and Team Ninja games are made for the big screen; this would be BEAUTIFUL as a PS4 game running on Team Ninja’s new “Soft Engine” that makes DOA5 Last Round and Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden look so good.

And, again, all Monster Hunter clones should be trying to become more successful by doing what Capcom ISN’T – bringing that type of game back to consoles. God Eater 2 Rage Burst gets it.

    • Attribule

It’s true, these companies should be catering to the console market – not because the audience “is larger”, but because Monster Hunter simply isn’t there to overshadow them.

If an Action Hunting fan owns a PS3 or PS4, and has no interest of owning a 3DS, then these companies can provide the fix. The Action Hunting fan would have no other choice but to buy their game because it’s the only option they have. I also think that because games like Toukiden are far more “spectacle fighter” than “Action Hunting” that they could very well find a better audience on console in general. Appeal to the DMC/Bayonetta crowd, maybe?

In this case, the bad decision wasn’t that Toukiden and whatever else were on “a handheld”, but rather the fact that they were on the Vita, specifically. There is very little support for the Vita, even from Sony themselves, and sales are so much smaller than any other current system that a developer would have to be paid to put something on it. Developing for 3DS is what any developer should be doing if they want a handheld game. No point developing that “bigger, shinier” game for Vita if that game still isn’t going to sell anyway. You’re not going to sell any lemonade if you set up shop in the middle of nowhere.

Other than that, I think you have a point. Especially in the west where internet connectivity is valued more than ad-hoc multiplayer, I think bringing these games to home consoles is actually better in the long run.

    • DP

Actually, MHFG is Capcom’s console/PC MH.

  • Ciethe

Been waiting for this. This is one of the games that have even made me ponder whether or not I should get a Vita (Not enough so far even though there are some greats. Tell me when something like Bayonetta 2 comes out for Vita.

  • Aristides

    I wouldn’t mind a cross-play/cross-save PSV/PS4 installment in the series :P

  • S- Class Wizard KaRamo

    And a PC version

    • artemisthemp

It won’t work on a PC

      • S- Class Wizard KaRamo

if there want it on pc they can, but i dough they would start from scratch to make a pc version

      • yomachaser

Why on earth would it “not work” on pc?

  • Drithe

This is a great game. Great game. I loved it on my vita.
