Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Gets A New Story Mode For Consoles

Players will get to pit their favorite anime or light novel characters against each other when Dengeki Bunko Fight Climax releases on PlayStation 3 and Vita next week. The console version also adds a new story mode, where characters of different series will interact with each other.

The new story mode, called “Dream Duel,” is a story mode that will have characters interact in fully-voiced scenes with characters from various series. The story parts have all been supervised by all the writers of Dengeki Bunko.

With all the mix of characters and their stories, the Dream Duel mode has over 60 different story scenarios, where you’ll get to see the likes of Asuna from Sword Art Online have talks with Shana from Shakugan no Shana.

Shana shows pride as a Flame Haze, and she doesn’t know what guilds are about, but Asuna then mentions that she knows of someone who would play solo for as far as he can.

You’ll also have various scenarios with unlikely match-ups, such as Mikoto Misaka from A Certain Magical Index and Kirino Kousaka from Oreimo.

In the above scenario, Kirino is shown saying how it’s unfair that Mikoto has 20,000 “sisters” and that she’s jealous because she wishes that she at least had one. Mikoto then responds by asking if she’d like to introduce her to one of the sisters.

Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax will release in Japan on November 13, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Have this game pre-ordered already, so this thing is just a bonus. (Though in a way this means my lack of Japanese knowledge will actually kind of stink… if it were just a fighting game that wouldn’t really be a problem XD)

Let me guess, there will definitely be a story about Kirito & Asuna on a date. Still irks me that SAO gets 2 playable characters.

      If I’m not mistaken though, Funimation localized about half the series included in the roster. Only ones I believe they haven’t touched are Ro-Kyu-Bu and Black Bullet (for one of the most obvious reasons).
      
      It COULD work, y’know. Not to mention this is Dengeki Bunko working with SEGA here – the former has the license on all the franchises included forthwith.

        Well, we had Aquapazza brought over, since well, the animes did come over stateside (dunno about the PC games), but I guess Atuls USA had something to negotiate with Aquaplus, that, and at least they brought out Tears to Tiara 2 as well.
        
        I mean, it might be possible for DBFC to be in English too one day…hopefully.

Sooo its totally gonna be a story of Kirito stealing girls from other people harems, so that he can gain the title of harem king. Luckily, Touma isn’t playable so he has a good chance of success.

  Technically Shizuo should have sufficient power to cockblock Kirito in any way possible (considering all objects thrown in the latter’s general direction, which may or may not include a train). I’m more worried about the Master of the Loli Harem, Sentarou.
  
  Between Kirito being infamously known for Gary Stu-ness and the West usually having hatred of all things to do with Lolicons, Shizuo should be the only breath of fresh air aside from Akira and Pai (of which I believe the latter pair would be the only reason most anime-hating SEGA nerds would get this game, if they felt like getting it at all).
  
  Still… this roster is kinda sad in how SAO skewed it is. They got Valkyrie Chronicles and Virtua Fighter to cross over… why not do one of the crew from PSO2? I could see Zeno/Echo or Theodore/Ulc (in terms of primary/assist).

        It always had that treatment, but yeah, its English release towards 1 (we didn’t get 2 because of its issues) 3 and LM are, well good, just had some bad times and such within its releases, but it came out just fine.

        LM suffered from the whole choked netplay bit – no international netplay, which hurt the game’s sales (though LM being a rehash didn’t really help much either – at least it won’t until the new girl comes out).

        Yeah, that’s because of split region online, which means JP and EN releases/versions are treated separately with different online infrastructures and separate trophy lists. And hopefully the Six Stars update ends up being a patch/etc. cause its still running on the Love Max HUD/Interface anyways.

      It’s possible. I mean, a good number of the series in this game have been localized by Funimation (and the rule of anything getting into this game is that it has to be either Sega or Dengeki Bunko property), so it wouldn’t be a stretch.
      
      Only obstacle I really see lies in the lolis (Tomoka mainly, but Rentarou as well because of his status as “Loli Harem Master”). Those have not been localized AFAIK because of how they portray grade schoolers.
      
      But hey, anything’s possible. The idiots who love Naruto and Bleach fucking taught me that much.
