Is the story directly related to Escha and Logy? is it too much spoilerish? I ask because I can’t find Escha & Logy anywhere, and the only copies I could find are ridicously expensive.
Maybe I should wait for the inevitable Plus version in english

    • HarakiriKami

Arent plus versions usually for the Vitae

      • Mr_SP

Yes. Atelier Rorona Plus was an exception, however.

        • Fronkhead

Aye, I preferred the original branding for that: New Atelier Rorona. “Plus” didn’t really do it justice compared to what “Plus” usually stands for…

      • Tincho Kudos

        And I have a Vita.

Where in the world are you based? US amazon has it for $30, while UK amazon has it for 20gbp. Pretty typical prices for an Atelier game released six months ago.

      • Tincho Kudos

Argentina, I cannot import since the custom here will charge me with half of the total amount. Plus I need to be an importer, and I’m not.
And here the game is so niche nobody has it, or has it at expensive prices

  • Cazar

Why don’t they just release these games simultaneously for PS3/Vita already? All this plus nonsense is just making people want to skip the first release.

Re-releases can work for bigger franchises or when they’re spaced out more reasonably but it’s beginning to take its toll here.

And who knows maybe it’d even increase our chances of actually getting physical releases for Vita over here; not that that should affect their decisions.

    • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

becau$$$$$$e, sillybuns! some people may skip the first release, but there’s a bevvy of otaku who are pleased to buy it all.

      • Cazar

You’d think they could generate a wider level of interest by keeping their releases newsworthy instead of just making them a regular occurrence.

Atelier is too niche to get away with this sort of milking and as far as I’m aware the following is not as hardcore as some other niche franchises. At this rate the initial releases won’t be able to sustain the franchise without wholly depending on the second release which won’t get as much PR as the first.

        • DyLaN

A reminder, Atelier have bigger fanbases in JP compare to overseas considering its more or less the COD of JP/JRPG. (IIRC)

          • Cazar

You overestimate it. It’s niche in Japan as well.

          • DyLaN

I find it hard to believe Gust will pump out this much titles if there isn’t a dedicated and big enough fanbase that will keep buying everything Atelier but w/e.

    • CS

Because the chance to boost sales for selling an older product w/a few new options?

OK, isn’t developing on different systems expensive when you’re not 100% sure if it’ll sell well on one?

      • Cazar

The problem is the releases are getting too close together and the sales for the initial release are dwindling with each entry.

And they should already know how it can perform on the Vita at this point and should be well accustomed to porting it.

        • Daniel Williams

this, I dont buy the console versions anymore because Im waiting for them to port it to the vita

    • DizzyGear

This. Just release the games on both platforms physically like they did with Deception IV. I skipped the whole dusk series on PS3 because i was pretty sure they would be released on Vita with all the DLC included if i waited a bit.

  • LM009

Day 1 buy for both, can never get tired of atelier.

    • Mr_SP

I dunno… I’m thinking of skipping Shallie if I can be reasonable sure I can get the Plus version.

  • CamulaHikari

Day 1 for Ayesha Plus, will prob wait for the eventual Shallie Plus. Guess I have deadline for platinuming Rorona Plus. XD

  • Raw

    Why can’t we get a physical ed. for the atelier plus games ;_;

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Because the PSV sells like crap. It sucks for us but on the other hand, we are getting the games so even though they take a lot of space, I’m glad we aren’t missing out~.

    • Revyatheworldeater .

Because the number of predicted sales doesn’t justify the size of the run they would need to manufacture for a physical release to maintain desired profitability.

    • Fronkhead

It’s just not going to happen given the game ships on a 4GB game card: KT will be buying those from Sony at a price way above wholesale, and then there’s the risk involved with manufacturing the things, shipping them to warehouses, having them lie on store shelves until what’s left is eventually moved to bargain bins in clearance.

A real shame — even Resi Revelations on 3DS was originally going to be $10 more due to the 4GB game card it was shipping on. And that would be far less risky to publish on card than something like Atelier on Vita.

      • Raw

They could just do it like they do it for limited editions. They handle the ordering and shipping themselves. No need to use brick&mortar retailers.

        • Fronkhead

You raise a good point. I think KT could make it work by leveraging the demand for limited editions and/or collectibles/ tat that come with them. I mean, I’d buy Escha & Logy Plus for a good deal more if it came with that Escha tail Gust sells on their online store.

          • Raw

To be honest, I would gladly spend more than $100 for a limited physical edition of all the plus atelier arland games. And I’m pretty sure they can sell at least a 1,000 copy run of this.

          • Raw

Also, Gaijinworks already did something like this with Class of Heroes 2G. And it was successful.

  • Yeah-ya~! So excited!! ♥

I’m getting both! I can’t wait to enjoy the Ayesha JP voices, they had a cast I was really looking forward to. ♥q♥

  • Demeanor

    PS4 port, come on! XD
Anyone able to predict a Western release of Shari? Oh, silly me, this article IS talking about the Western release. Yay! March it is then.

  • Anontastic

(;-;) I don’t wanna have to wait another year after that for Shallie Plus though…

  • Fronkhead

I hope the Escha DLC is available on day one.

    • Magicks

I hope so too. >__< But I have a bad feeling that it's going to be released later like they've done in the past Atelier games. (At least I think I remember that not all the DLC characters were available day one.)

  • Suriel Cruz

One more added to the list… My wallet will break!!! Dx
    – Disgaea 5
    – Persona 5
    – Tales of Zestiria
    – Atelier Shallie

  • Wtv

Okay, I really need to finish Arland trilogy fast.
I need more free time, dammit.

    • U and me both buddy, I just got Rorona Plus for the PS3 a while back and let’s just say that SAO: HF and Freedom Wars are NOT helping me finish Rorona XD

  • Looks like our Spring will be a beautifully colored one with this release =^_^=

  • Yaggyu

Hmm let me guess Digital release in NA again

  • Eric Harris

Might have to buy a few of them on PS3 as they get real cheap. Would love to play on vita, but I’m not spending that kinda money on a digital download. I do have Meruru LE and it’s ok.

  • March 10th, huh? This may the first title I pick up in the new year for PS3 :)

  • My SRPG fix continues. Glad I replaces it with this franchise compared to anything SE has delivered or failed to deliver to us these past few years.

Best decision I ever made. If they can win me back with 15 then i’m down for that challenge. But for now, let’s grab that pot and keep the alchemy going :)

  • Atinverse

Hmmm, I should probably buy an “Atelier” dedicated memcard. The ports seem routine already.

    • Harry Potter

thats why vita has no sales because of atelier series why they do this to us 1 memory card is worth like my 2 month allowance

  • Kornelious

Awesome! Much sooner than i expected for both! :D

I especially can’t wait for Shallie, I wonder what voice actors they will choose this time around, And Now that the Vita TV is out, I can play Ayesha Plus on the big screen! (Pretty much making my PS3 copy obsolete -_-)….And I’m not gonna complain about no LE since that seems to be getting nowhere, so I’ll just anticipate my physical copy with open arms (For Shallie at least) And hopefully we’ll get some Pre-Order bonuses too……Hopefully not from gamestop though :P

I’m also glad they kept the boxart from the Japanese version, Looks awesome :)

  • CH3N9

(T^T) Me no new console since PS2.
(╥︣﹏᷅╥) So many Atelier release since then Iris 3.
(≖_≖ ) PSVita, PS3 and PS4 … so hard to make a decision with all the versions here.

    • dispedia

why not buy all. problem solved.

    • kawaii baka

PS vita or ps 3 cuz the plus version on ps vita is good and ps 3 if u prefer home consoles than handhelds and all the games arein ps 3 too XD which do u prefer- plus or original? Answer that and you have your answer. Oh and ps vita is only download so yeah… if u hate that dont get a vita- this is why I got my self a ps 3 and not a vita XDD (recently got in the atelier games and got my self a ps 3 so thats why I am saying this.)

  • Pdugna

What’s the current amount of room the Plus versions take up on a Vita mem card?

  • I really hated the bikini outfits. They served no purpose whatsoever – meaning, none of the chars went to beach etc. I mean, I generally don’t hate fan service but for this game…the people who made this decision should be ashamed of themselves. :Y

  • artemisthemp

Looks like I finally have a lot to play in January instead of just been a relax month

  • Aristides

@[email protected] please no more digital downloads… at this rate I’m gonna have to buy a dedicated 32GB card to fit all my Atelier games and still have no physical copies. At least do some limited print runs via NISA or something like Ar Nosurge…
