Epic Historical JRPG Americana Dawn Takes You Across 18th Century America [Update]

Japanese and American studio Bit Bonton has released a trailer for its historical JRPG Americana Dawn. The game has also been submitted to Steam Greenlight.

Update: The game is now up on Kickstarter, and is now slated for release on PC in 2017, instead of 2015.

Americana Dawn takes place across two centuries of American history following a spirit of the sea called Foster. He’s a gentle and innocent being who had been lost to the Shenandoah Valley for hundreds of years until he was recruited by the militia.

From here, you stay with Foster as he experiences three wars (including the French and Indian War and the American Revolution) and the entire eastern seaboard of North America.

“Foster witnesses once loyal English become American rebels. He fights against dear friends turned foe, watch mortal companions blossom and wither, bears witness to the chain of events that would create the United States, and is left with revelations both inspiring and woeful,” Bit Bonton writes in the game’s description.

As you can see in the trailer above, Americana Dawn looks and plays like an old school RPG with animated pixel art, text-based conversations, world exploration, and turn-based combat.

It’ll be coming to PC in 2017 and will be released in Japanese and English. As to whether it will come to more platforms we can only wait and see. Once it has been updated, you’ll be able to find out more on its website.
