Drift Stage Looks Like The Arcade Racers SEGA Used To Make

Recommended Videos

Drift Stage is inspired by the racing games that Yu Suzuki used to make for SEGA. We’re talking about Virtua Racer, Daytona USA, and the OutRun series here.

It has that glorious ‘80s color palette and focuses, not on racing simulation, but on stylish arcade drifting with a refreshing California sun aesthetic.

Previously, the developers of Drift Stage have released a teaser and a look at the game’s split-screen local multiplayer. But now they’ve released a video of pure, unedited footage from a time trial attempt around a night time city. You can see it in the video above.

As you can see in the screenshot above, Drift Stage also features tracks in the sunshine along coastal beaches, as well as in cities. When finished, it will have a roster of cars inspired by the mid-late ‘80s and early ‘90s racing.

The developer’s plan is to initially release Drift Stage on Windows and Mac, but is also looking into releasing it on consoles and mobile too. You can find out more about the game on its website.
