The Great Ace Attorney Lets You Cross-Examine Two Witnesses At Once

We already know that Phoenix Wright’s ancestor and protagonist of The Great Ace Attorney, Ryunosuke Naruhodo, will befriend Sherlock Holmes and Watson. Capcom recently introduced a new friend of his, and shared more on the game’s system.

Kazuma Asougi:

Like Ryunosuke, his friend Kazuma is also a student at the Imperial Capital Yumei University. He’s studying to become an attorney, but they say that he’s already more than qualified to become one. At the time, the modern judicial system was new in Japan, so he aims to travel to the British Empire to complete his studies.

He supports Ryunosuke, who doesn’t really know much about being an attorney, and unlike the protagonist, Kazuma is full of confidence, and always remains quite calm.

Meanwhile, instead of cross-examining a single witness at a time, you’ll get to cross-witness two people at once, and you’ll need to point out lies and contradictions when doing so.

The military-looking guy and the old man seen in the above screenshots appear to be witnesses in the case. You’ll need to check for contradictions by observing evidence and testimonies.

If you make an error, it’ll take away one of the five markers shown on the top-right of the screen, and you know what happens when you get them all wrong!

Also, another thing worth mentioning is that in Japanese, the series’ famous “Objection!” line is “Igiari!” but in The Great Ace Attorney it has been changed to “Hai!” or “Yes!”. This is also due to the period the game takes place in as well.

The Great Ace Attorney is slated for release in Japan in 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.
