Fairy Fencer F And Hyperdimension Neptunia Games Coming To Steam In English

By Sato . December 22, 2014 . 6:28am

hyperdimension-neptunia-victory-a

As previously reported, Idea Factory have applied for both Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth games for PC, and company president Yoshiteru Sato recently announced in Japan’s Dengeki PlayStation magazine that the series is indeed headed to Steam, and will be released in English, too. [Thanks, Zaregoto.]

“We’ve already decided to release the Neptunia series on PC and in English through Steam next year,” said Sato.

“Nowadays, the demand for moé is quite high overseas, so, we must quickly release the main titles,” added Idea Factory business development manager Damien Urvois. “We also plan to release Fairy Fencer F on Steam next year.”

Sato also mentioned his dreams of expanding mobile games overseas, and says Idea Factory are currently working on releasing them in China and other parts of South-East Asia as well.

If things go smoothly [in the smartphone expansion realm] Urvois said that they may also release a Hakuoki game for smartphone in English. This will be higher resolution compared to the PSP, and fully-voiced as well, so they’ll take up about 2gb of storage space.

“Nowadays, the demand for moé is quite high overseas, so, we must quickly release the main titles,”
Quick, inject the western fanbase with moeeee, lots and lots of moeeeee xD

  • Christopher C

Never had a PS3 so fairy fenced F will be welcomed.

…also I’m counting the days until we see the first sex mod for NEPTUNIA.

  • kurbstar2

How does this work? Will IFI be able to use NISA’s translation of FFF? Or will they have to translate it again?

    • Christopher C

still owned by compile heart and they can do what they want.

      • kurbstar2

Sweet. Hopefully they undo that stupid name change nisa did

        • Gust blade

As well as the numerous mistranslation …

          • Spirit Macardi

What did they mistranslate? By what I understand the translation was pretty faithful; Kaiji Tang even requested that the homoerotic dialogue from the original be kept x3

          • Gust blade

Mostly talking about neptunia , but even in fairy fencer f there are moment when you would hear the character say something in Japanese and it’s complete opposite in the text , or just something that is completely different from the original text and didn’t quite fit in the dialog /situation .

Still not arksys atrocious, but disturbing enough when you notice them .

Can’t find one if my head for FFF but in neptunia victory’s case you had thing such as this :

            (Japanese)
Neptune : “The reason i called you here is none other than …! ”

            (English)
Neptune : “I called you here for absolutely nothing !”

So yeah, nitpicking for some, but annoying for me .

    • Spirit Macardi

I hope not. I want to keep Canadian Galdo.

  • YHVH

I’ll just get the games on the consoles.

  • fyi1191

Oh, the mods! I can see it now.

  • HonoraryCMC

And PlayStation loses another exclusive… God damn it.

    • kurbstar2

Get use to it. Just going to get worse as the market galvanizes towards smart phones

Japan has woken up to the realization that everyone also owns PCs

    • Fronkhead

      Dat fanboyism

      • Altin

Truer words were never spoken that day.

        • Fronkhead

          ^ ^

    • EliParker

This doesn’t hurt PS, as you can still play it on the PS.

      • Renegade[G]

It’s a huge slap in the face to PS owners.

        • Fronkhead

…I think the majority of PS owners don’t care that some games they’ve already played are reaching a wider (and smaller) audience on PC.

Idea Factory International can do what they want with their IP, they shouldn’t be tied down by a vocal minority who believe games should be tied to a single platform (unless it’s for creative reasons) and believe they are entitled to it.

          • Renegade[G]

Well good luck to IF/Compile. Cause these news will probably pissed off some of their *NICHE* PS audience…

          • Fronkhead

I’d like to think the audience for these sorts of games (though “niche” is a very broad term, and I don’t believe Neptunia to be niche anymore) is above this sort of thing!

          • Cats736

Yes, because the *niche PS audience* is really going to think a PC port is a negative thing.

        • EliParker

That is not a slap, as PS put no money for the IP. Now PS/PC owners can play the game.

          • Renegade[G]

You do know that the PS fan base are the once that support them ever since cross edge? These PS fan base also made Neptuna Franchise a success..

          • pekikuubik

            REVENGE! Mwahahahaha.
Now you know how PC gamers felt when PC exclusive franchises and developers went console only at the start of the previous gen.

Except you will still have your Neps on your PS, unlike that situation.

    • Cats736

This is a good thing, opens up the game to more customers. Exclusivity is really quite stupid if it’s used on anything but system launch titles.

  • I’m still waiting for Fairy Fencer to drop a bit

    • kurbstar2

But PC versions are always the definitive version

      • Rinku

I really wanted this game but then i saw ps4…
SO i’m really glad i still get to play it :D

      • Shady Shariest

Not really… Some games work well as portables :P Why i will still be buying Nep Nep’s for Vita :3

  • Fronkhead

Interesting to see Idea Factory International take such a proactive role in getting this out the door, and getting it out the door so quickly.

Usually I’d say it’s another missed opportunity for NISA now Idea Factory has taken over a portion of their business, but I don’t think this would have happened had Idea Factory International not been a thing.

  • Spirit Macardi

Kind of annoying because I just got Fairy Fencer F not too long ago, but whatever I’ll totally get it again! I want my Kaiji Tang in 60 fps :D

  • Go2hell66

I somehow doubt there’s a high demand for moe here, but whatever you say

    • Shippoyasha

There’s probably enough to get a decent profit. Looks like moe games that are already on Steam are doing well saleswise. Plus, all the Steamsales really help.

    • ronin4life

Like I said before, these game series have mods in some relatively strange places… But to drive the MOE demand point home:

Shogun 2 has a mod that turns EVERYONE into an Anime character. Mostly girls

Civ has several mods for many Anime civilizations, including One Piece, Madoka and Miku

Insurgency has “ecchi” guns that make… Er, noises. …yea.

Many “moe” and other Japanese games have been releasing in increasing numbers just this past year alone. There is a market there, and it is growing.

  • Monterossa

    ejaculated.

  • EliParker

Time to pre-order them. This is very good news if you are a fan of the series.

  • magicalfollower

I literally just shed tears of joy. :’D

  • kurbstar2

Steam is a much more lenient platform for risqué content also, because they don’t require ESRB or PEGI ratings

Nothing but good if Compile Heart wants to jump into PC. Definitely opens the door for a monster monoprice director’s cut

  • Alicemagic

Interesting how their main motivation for porting to PC seems to be western audiences. Progressive even.

I’ll give Fairy Fencer a go on Steam but will regardless stick to Vita as a Re;Birth machine.

  • DesmaX

Now I’m glad that I’ve hold out on FFF.

Still not sure if I would pick the Neptunia games, but I don’t mind picking FFF up.

  • max

    n u d e m o d s

    • Cats736

Already exists, and have since 2011.

  • “the demand for moe”

    • Renegade[G]

      What Demand?

  • >Nowadays, the demand for moé is quite high overseas, so, we must quickly release the main titles

You goddamn right, waifus is where it’s at.

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owltron

I think Idea Factory has made a good choice.

  • Rory Mercury

Next year is looking great for PC released in general.

    Can’t wait!

  • Ayylmao

    consolefags BTFO

    • Narrator 1

Is it possible for you types to be happy you’re getting something without sniping at other video game fans?

  • Shun Kurosaki

yessss. I’ll finally be able to play the games (they’re not that easy to find where I live)

  • Rinku

    Yes, i demand more moe.

Is this going to turn into a meme?

  • Yan Zhao

That’s a surprise. But I already completed FFF on PS3 anyway. No point now :3

Good stuff for the PC gamers though.

  • Ahegao Double Peace

My penis can only get so erect

    • Grunwald

You, I like your name and picture.

  • Just waiting for NIS to get on this train.

Disgaea 5 on Steam would be a welcome addition, for instance.

    • Shady Shariest

Yupo. Now that there is no chance of Vita-version, i would rather choose the one unmoving platform i have =W=’
(+´There would be not much work actually in it, since it is all ready a PC-game :P)

    • DesmaX

It would be nice if they actually tried to make a good port.

And I hope IF also tries to make decent ones too, these japanese PC ports tend to be pretty poor ones

      • Shady Shariest

It actually goes the other way around for PS4 and Xone games :X They are ported FROM PC

  • It actually happened. Finally.
Not that I’ll ever play them on something other than my vita, but you know I’ll damn well buy these to look pretty in my steam library.

  • AlphaSixNine

As long as I still get them on Vita/PS3/PS4, go ahead and let the moe spread all over Steam! I just personally prefer playing these games on consoles.

If it starts turning into localized games only get on Steam, them I’ll stop supporting them and go back to my “old habits” of pc gaming. :3

    • Fronkhead

      Play games, not consoles/platforms :)

      • AlphaSixNine

I just prefer to play on consoles. Nothing more. It’s like how I prefer to eat with spoon and fork instead of chopsticks even though I can use chopsticks perfectly fine. It affects the experience.

        • Fronkhead

It’s the “I’ll stop supporting them part” of your post which feels vindictive to me. Sorry. It implied other things.

          • AlphaSixNine

I only mean it, if let’s say for example the game is originally on PS4 then they decide to announce localization but only on Steam. That’s stupid and if IFI starts acting like that, then I won’t support that effort. If it becomes their thing then I’ll be completely done with them.

If they develop a game for PC specifically or they bring a PC game from Japan over to Steam. That’s great.

          • Fronkhead

Yeah, surprised you’d think up such an intricate and unlikely situation though :P

  • ivanchu77

Where´s the problem? i never used and don´t plan to use Steam and i still think this are great news for both franchises, i´m sure they will be successful and expand the fanbase quite a bit, and that´s only positive.

Of course, it would be different if they only released them for Steam and not for PS3/PS4/Vita , but not the case so far so i won´t bother worrying about that

  • Gust blade

    “Damien Urvois”
That guy was so embarrasing to see when he was invited to the neptune 2 jp presentation in Takahashi Meijin show , but i see he’s working hard on the inside !
…even though i’ll probably stick to ps3/ps4 unless there are great mod .

(like … some guy making effolle playable in neptunia )

    • What did he do wrong?

      • Gust blade

When asked if westerner also like little girls he answered with a big “of course!” which had me facepalm with the oh so might power of shame, considering we’re from the same country …

So yeah, nothing too terrible, but embarassing as heck XD

        • Shippoyasha

At least he is frank about the power of moe!

        • I see. Sort of awkward.

    • ivanchu77

“like … some guy making effolle playable in neptunia”

I would buy the steam version just for that ,lol

  • Hagaren

    Hype announcements keep on pouring!

  • Land of Green Pasture

now only if another JRPG developer (it refers to you, Falcom) could be at least being like this…

    • Riverstyx9

They already do put their games on pc.

      • Land of Green Pasture

I mean we need, like, more of them

        • Fronkhead

It’ll likely happen. A lot of these PC ports seem to be fairly low budget and done by porting houses like Q Loc (Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy), Devil’s Details (Sonic Generations, Binary Domain) and another one I forgot the name of that did Valkyria Chronicles, and given the relative success of the latter, and how Steam is becoming a viable distribution platform for these sorts of games.

      • aizen310

It’s the speed that concerns me.
        Dat TitS SC.

        • Fronkhead

Oh yeah, wasn’t that due by the end of the year? :(

        • Riverstyx9

I’m concerned about speed too. Still waiting for SC on psp/ vita as well.

    • Spirit Macardi

… You’ve never heard of a company called Xseed have you.

  • zeroroute

I only got a ps3 last Christmas and don’t have a vita so I’m hyped. First J stars and now this? YAY!

    • Land of Green Pasture

      eh, what? J-Stars too!?

      • ronin4life

J stars is coming westward. But not to steam.

  • Fronkhead

“If things go smoothly [in the smartphone expansion realm] Urvois said that they may also release a Hakuoki game for smartphone in English. This will be higher resolution compared to the PSP, and fully-voiced as well, so they’ll take up about 2GB of storage space.”

Just noticed this bit. Interesting, nice to see a publisher not neglect their Japanese arm’s releases on iOS/Android. There’s a lot of good stuff that hasn’t made it overseas, and while you can log into a Japanese iTunes account, language barriers are still an issue for many.

  • Put a collection on the ps4 i will buy it

    • Renegade[G]

      I guess IF/Compile forget about that console…

      • magicalfollower

Didn’t Compile Heart announced “Hyperdimension Neptunia Hypercollection” for the PS4 just a few days ago?

  • TheIceWolf

but when!?! I want to get FFF and Re:Birth 1 but if they are coming out soon, I want to save and wait

  • The World Guardian

This is quite the great news, yes. But will they port the originals or the Rebirth versions? I mean given how they ESRB’d the Vita ones, I’m guessing they’re the Rebirths but still, want to know

    • pekikuubik

      It’ll be the Re;Births.

  • ineedgames

Wish they would Release these games on Xbox and Wii.

    • ronin4life

Considering the stories are about every game console, I always found Sony exclusivity strange and backwards myself.

      • Speedometris Maximus

I just want to note, the first game was originally about three friends on an adventure. Neptune and the console aspect didn’t come into play until a bit after they had started programming the game for PS3.

        • ineedgames

Even then it was about a Sega console and two game companys.

  • I enjoyed fairy fencer f on ps3, probably wouldn’t buy it again but this gives me hope the sequel may eventually come to pc since I don’t have a ps4

  • pekikuubik

Excellent news. It’ll be interesting to see if they can shame Square Enix with better PC ports like SEGA did.

  • Riverstyx9

Good to see they’re expanding so more people can play their games, and of course so they can make more money for even better games in the future. I’ll still get the vita/ps4 versions of their games though. I would want physical copies.

  • John Hayabusa

Darnit! I just unlocked Nepgear, Uni, Rom, and Ram a while ago.

Anyway, I am very happy that Japanese game developers and publishers are giving the PC market more love aside from VNs and indie games. Naruto, Dragonball, MGSV, DOA5, SFV, One Piece, and finally Neptunia. PC gamers are going to have a blast this next year. Cannot wait for the mods.

Would be nice to see Steam getting its own goddess.

    • Land of Green Pasture

      Steam goddess gotta be steamy..

    • Gust blade

I can see her be all hight and mighty over the other goddess , poking fun at the endless “pc master race!” fanboyism .

(and having her outfit/weapon/voice change randomly because of mods )

    • Renegade[G]

If Steam Release their own Steam consoles

    • Gust blade

Dat image , nep model in MGR , the possibilities …
too bad it probably won’t happen XD

    • KazukiNanbu

that picture give some ideas of how a sequel of the conquest ending would it be

    • ronin4life
      • Shady Shariest

We need someone who has actually done something as the mascot :P

        • ronin4life

Gabe has done plenty. Like count up to 2. And eaten Hamburgers. And delayed HL3. And eaten Hamburgers.

          ^_^

          • FlyByNight

Hey…Gabe’s eaten plenty more than just hamburgers. PLENTY more.

          • Shady Shariest

            He made knives once.

  • zzzSleeping

    Great news

  • Shippoyasha

I now am starting to wonder if some modern tablet devices can run these games. Imagine playing Neptunia on a tablet!

    • Fronkhead

Any iOS device made since the iPhone 5s/iPad Air should be fine with it, the Apple A7/A8/A8X has a monster CPU/GPU, a generation ahead of what’s in PS Vita (PS Vita is PowerVR Series 5, Apple A7/A8/A8X use Series 6 “Rogue”)

      http://www.frostbite.com/2014/11/frostbite-tech-demo-battlefield-4-on-ios/

And as John Hayabusa has mentioned, the Surface Pro should do traditional PC games fine. I’ve got a Surface Pro 2 and it plays anything last gen well, even Metal Gear Rising despite its recommended specifications.

    • John Hayabusa

I would really love to see Microsoft Surface Pro being able to handle any of Nep games. I am hoping to get one next year.

      • Fronkhead

Oh nice. I really like my Surface Pro 2. Hopefully by the time you get one the next revision will be out — the Pro 3 is great, but it has heat issues when playing games so it throttles the CPU/GPU and you get lower performance than the previous model.

    • Renegade[G]

Free to play Neptuna. With crap ton of microtransactions.

      • Fronkhead

There are plenty of great games on smartphones and tablets which don’t have IAP, but at the end of the day it’s Idea Factory/Compile Heart’s call if it ever happens.

        • Renegade[G]

IF/Compile even have a microtransactions in their
          Ps3 games

          • Fronkhead

True. Namco have been putting microtransactions into Tales (since Vesperia I believe), but Tales of Hearts R was still a full featured release on iOS, being identical to the PS Vita version right down to the optional and well hidden level up/gald/grade IAP.

    • subsamuel01

Rather they keep these games on the Vita, one of the few companies that are still supporting the Vita with a ton of games.

      • Shippoyasha

I don’t want them to abandon it either. Maybe Vita can get a 6 month leeway before PC version.

        • Shady Shariest

This is what they will most likely do.

          • ronin4life

Not for the suggested reason though.

PC ports always come later for Japanese developers like this. Because they tend to be lower priority.

          • Shady Shariest

Yupo. This will likely change when they fully realize that they are making PC-games in case of the new consoles. + Making the port itself will take time.

    • malek86

There’s some tablets that could probably do it, like the Surface Pro 2 or 3, but they tend to be expensive. The Atom Z3000 series might manage somehow though, and they tend to be used in cheap tablets too. It would depend on how optimized the port is (I wouldn’t expect much though).

A Core-M might fare even better, but for now they are only used in expensive devices.

  • mcbackstory

Bring on the anime. I will add all of these to my Steam backlog.

  • MKSubzero

Hell yeah. Guess my patience paid off. I’m gonna get ALL Neptunia games next year.
    I don’t need Fairy Fencer F, though.

  • Pheria

Console exclusives are basically the only thing that makes me primarily a console gamer (well that and my love for physical media).

With more and more games like this making the jump it could be plausible to actually have something to play on my PC.

-looks at Vita library- They still have a long way to go though. keep ’em comin’!

  • aizen310

What about the 3rd Neptunia game?

    • Shady Shariest

They will likely post Re:Birth 3 in time, too.

    • John Hayabusa

They’re bringing the Neptunia series to Steam, which means Re;Birth3 should be coming too.

      • aizen310

        I hope.
I always got reminded of Fable I and Fable III, where Fable II was Xbox360 only.

      • Slayven19

You have my favorite character from selector infected as your avatar. Plus 1 for that.

  • Naygen

    Isn’t that inviting piracy?

    • Shady Shariest

Not really. Piracy is caused by demand without delivery. And Steam is pretty much the best place to sell from, so piracy will be limited to assholes only.

      • ineedgames

What about those Cheap bastards that still don’t buy games?

        • Shady Shariest

“So pircacy will be limited to assholes only”
          Assholes.

          • Slayven19

So right it had to be said twice.

          • Shady Shariest

            Yupo.

        • Matty

So what? They wouldn’t have bought the games whether they existed or not. No one with a brain in their head cares about piracy anymore

    • Renegade[G]

don’t worry pirachu is currently behind bars…

    • magicalfollower

PS3 games can be pirated too in case you don’t know.

      • Renegade[G]

pc is easier to pirate than consoles

    • Cats736

No more than it already has. Piracy is not limited to PC, it exists on consoles as well.

  • Veryl7

I’ve been hoping for this for years. I never got the opportunity to play the Neptune games before, but now that it’s on Steam I’ll finally be able to play them T_T. Same with Fairy Fencer F, really looking forward to these!

  • Michael Richardson

Probably won’t be getting a PS3, so I’m glad Fairy Fencer F will make the transition.

    • natchu96

      Same :3

  • Manny Being Manny

This news is pretty whatever to me since I already have the games, but I guess its good for people who don’t have a Vita.

  • John Hayabusa

I feel like I want to sing something for this glorious news.

    Nep away the sorrow
    All the Noire of time
    But there’s no Vert
    It’s only Blanc inside

    • BlackGirlGamer123

      Lol.

    • Gust blade

Are you making them yourself ? Is the neptunia/mgr a real thing ? XD

      • John Hayabusa

No, just some edits I found on the net.

    • Huh? O_o

    • ineedgames

      Metal Nep Rising.

  • XClann

Would be nice if Hyperdimension Neptunia VIi is ported to PC as well.

  • David_c

this is it. after news about pirate warrior 3 going to PC and this.
i don’t know what to say anymore, just awesome.

That picture at the top of the article.

They really hate the fourth wall over there huh.

    Vita status: Completely DEAD

    • Arn

For US market yes, for Nihon not so much.

      • ronin4life

Atelier is the weakest point you can make, since it is going to 3ds now too…

    • Wagnaria

There’s still the Neptunia spin-offs so unless one only cares for the main game then It’s still a nice reason to get a Vita.

  • Thelastgunstar

    What…I…huh? Wow. Great news!

  • KazukiNanbu

don’t worry my ps3 collection, i still love you

    • Renegade[G]

Ps3 owners=Beta Testers. Kinda ironic since these ps3 owners made these franchise a success.

      • ronin4life

If it was a complete game in its own right then comparing it to a beta test is disengenous and immature.

Want a Beta test? Tales of Graces on Wii would like a word with you. But you won’t be playing it since A) it was a rushed mess B) it launched only in Japan and C) you probabky played the Finished version on PS3.

        Beta testers my ass…
        9_9

        • Renegade[G]

Have you played the original neptuna on ps3? Compare that to the vita port/remake.

          • ronin4life

Unless it is a broken mess designed from the get-go to support development of its port, as Tales of Graces was admitted to be, then it isn’t a Beta.

Adding new content to a revamped port doesn’t make the original an unfinished test product by default.

          • Renegade[G]

I ask you a question. have you play the first neptuna?
Its battle system is one of the worst I’ve played ever since I start playing video games, and I started playing video games ever since nes/famicom.

          • ronin4life

Nope. Not that this would change the question, nor the underlying point I am making: They made a *complete* game and decided to release a better version later. Developers do this *all the time* across all platforms-Just look at Tecmo Koei’s treatment of WiiU(Spoiler: A lot of upgraded games from elsewhere… then got shuffled back TO elsewhere MADE EVEN BETTER than what it was upgraded to for WiiU). PS3 isn’t a ‘beta tester’ console any more than any other just because it has 1 game that got a better version somewhere else later(On its own family handheld it must be said), so lamenting that just looks silly.

  • CrimsonShadow89

Joy, I can just see the future materiel the vocal PC Elitists will have now, God I hate those guys….

    • Shippoyasha

At least most new Valkyria Chronicles and Metal Gear Rising fans are cool. I don’t want to associate with trash talking nutters who weaponize those games.

      • BlackGirlGamer123

        I LOVE MGR.

  • Al

I see no point in getting these on PC.
I prefer to get them on ps vita instead.
Besides, it will most likely be a crappy port.

    • BlackC#Bro

2 people own a vita in America
      280 million own PC’s

Based Idea Factory saving PC gaming with kawaii girls. Maybe Neptunia 1 will actually run ok now.

      • Renegade[G]

I wonder how many of those 280 million PC’s are gaming PC’s? Or how many of these so called 280 million PC’s owners even heard of these franchise?
Or How many of these 280 million Pc’s owners end up pirating these game?

        • BlackC#Bro

You don’t need a gaming PC to play a Japanese ps3 port. These games run fine on a laptop. (I play Valkyria Chronicles and PSO2 with one)

Enough to make it worth porting.

Doesn’t matter, they would of never played it anyway and an extremely large amount of people will buy the games as evidenced by games like Valkyria Chronicles and Trails in the Sky.

          • Al

            Buy your games cheap sake.

          • I also play Valkyria Chronicles on a laptop. Freakin’ sweet, I’ll say! Can’t wait to play HDN and FFF on it too!

        • ronin4life

People need to stop this^. PC gaming is becoming the norm and Japanese games are becoming popular on the platform. This is undisputable.

And assuming the market isn’t on PC is ignorant: there are Mods based off Neptune in Don’t starve and Civilization, showing fans on Steam know what these games are and that they like them too.

      • Al

Then you’re missing out on playing on a ps vita.

        • BlackC#Bro

          I’ll live.

      • Al

        Don’t troll with numbers.
You’re missing out on how awesome the ps vita is.

      • BluecheeseZero

“2 people own a vita in America” then why do we keep getting vita games in the west? if there wasn’t any profit in them devs wouldn’t bring them over.

        • ronin4life

The truth is however Vita sales in the West are hideously low. Like, over taken by WiiU low.

      • Al

        still better on vita

        • John Silver

vita is only good for angry birds type games though.

          • Armageddon

huh? Have you seen uncharted, gravity rush, tearaway, tokiden, soul sacrifice delta, freedom wars. I could go on, but that would just make your comment even worse.

    • Asuna Neros

I actually prefer Vita ports as well. I’d love to play these games while on the go.

    • ronin4life

“it will most likely be a crappy port”

Haha… Why exactly? Because every other Japanese PC game is crappy? No, it has no more chance of being crappy than it would being ported to Vita, and that all depends on the makers themselves.

Plus, you know, PC means Mods.

      • Shady Shariest

Latter point depending on how the game is built. Modding isn’t 100% guaranteed feature.

        • ronin4life

          Of course. ^_^

      • Al

Mods doesn’t always work that well for every game. If it’s not official support I don’t bother. I don’t wanna be running third party programs to get mods working like in Borderlands 2.

Have you played the ones on the vita. I guess not because you they are ports (They are not ports).

PC almost always gets crappy console ports though. That’s not a lie btw.

    • Theob Vious Choice

Vita? Hell, I own all of the games on vita already. The 3 mainseries titles (just got Re;Birth3 in the mail) and the 3 spinoff titles… all on Vita. All of these games are either already in the states, or are incoming to the states or otherwise within the next year.

Unless you’re just complaining that there is no Fairy Fencer F port to Vita, if so… there is a sequel coming to PS4, and the game itself is already on PS3 in the states. Personally, I’m not a fan of it, I found it to be CH’s weak-handed answer to the people who bitch about them not making “epics”.

I don’t see how you can complain about there being more options on how to play a game. This simply means that people will get to play CH games on PC, CH is supporting Vita and PS4 right now more-so than any other JRPG developer. I don’t understand how you could possibly bitch about any decision they make as far as ports go when they have such a consistent release schedule for multiple systems in multiple regions.

      • Al

That’s cool and all. But I’m waiting for the games to come to the west instead. I prefer them in English.

I don’t really care about playing Fairy Fencer F. I still think it would make a better ps vita game than a ps3 game.

I’m just saying I have no interests in getting them on PC.
As long as they keep releasing them on PS systems I’m good (I personally prefer to play jrpgs on there).

Out on more systems means more money for them and that’s a good thing.

        • BlackC#Bro

Japan’s market share is in the Consoles, the west is actually more in PC than the consoles, or at least a large stake is in it, so you will not stop seeing PS console releases in the near future. Only if the ps4 proves not to have a core audience of weeaboos like us or otaku in Japan would you see a complete abandonment of home PS consoles. I doubt that will be the case.

        • Theob Vious Choice

Alright, cool haha. Yeah, I’m a bit too used to people making asenine arguments about CH games for the sake of making arguments. Not every day that someone doesn’t retaliate with some ridiculous stuff.

But yeah, you don’t really have all too much to worry about in that case.

Hyperdimension Neptunia U should come out on Vita in English in Q1 2015, which should be some time early spring/late winter.
Re;Birth2 is coming out on vita on January 27th in English.
Hyperdevotion Noire is coming out on Vita in English in early 2015 as well, which should be some time early spring, late winter.

Re;Birth3 does not have a confirmed English release date, however it will definitely come out in English, probably late Summer, mid-fall, the latest you’d see it in English is next December, I assure you it’ll be earlier.

CH is not dropping their support of portable consoles or consoles in general, they’re branching out. So with all these games coming out, (as well as in April, Neptune VII coming out in Japan, their new Vita game Makaishin Trillion coming out some time in 2015, as well as the Fairy Fencer sequel) There is tons of stuff to look forward to on PS4, Vita and now also PC. In both Japan, and the states, so no worries about anything, in fact, the money they make from the PC releases may end up netting us more games in the states.

Not to mention, Blanc will be getting her own game (probably on Vita) now that she won the heroine vote. So that’s another thing to look forward to.

I also assume soon enough we should hear about the next Galapagos RPG title. (And Omega Quintet will be released in the states some time in 2015 as well for PS4.)

          • Al

I’m cool with it coming to PC.
As long as they still release them PS systems as well then it’s fine (because that’s the only way I’m going to continue to support them).

  • Asuna Neros

Even if I do not like the idea, I’m still happy that there will be PC versions. I didn’t had much time to play these in my PS3. Now’s my chance to finish them since I have more time with my Laptop. Would have been better though if they kept releasing ports on the Vita.

  • Giordan

Is it just me or is every JRPG going to fucking steam?
    Thanks a lot…

    • Arn

Well, developing for PC is cheaper and Steam is the biggest digital distribuitor of gaming on the PC market, it’s a no-lose-money game.

      • Giordan

actually developing for PC is more expensive.

        • Arn

Not in a million years. Developing on computer is not only easier you don’t have to deal with complicated hardware and software structures and the company of the console you are developing for.

          • Giordan

but you do have to have requirements, don’t you?

          • Arn

Running and developing are two different things.

    • BlackC#Bro

Why exactly is that a bad thing?

    • JMaster3000

      MUAHAHAHAHA! PC MASTER RACE!

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

MUHAHAHAHA THAT MEME HAS BEEN RAN INTO THE GROUND ITS ALLLLLL ABOUT DREAMCAST BABYYYY

        • ronin4life

          ATARIJAGUAR/NGAGE/SATURN MASTER RAAAAAAAAAACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • BlackC#Bro

Dreamcast is not the “master race.”

Dreamcast is a way of life.

          • ShawnOtakuSomething

            dreamcast is love

dreamcast is life I’m going to mod the whole game with airhorns and Dreamcast girl

      • Al

        dumb fanboy ^

          :3

          • Al

            . <- You

            anyways what?

      • Giordan

        shut up dirtbag

    • Matty

Are you seriously salty that PC is getting JRPGs? What kind of childish logic is that?

      • Al

Because of people like JMaster3000 is the only reason I feel salty though. Can jrpg fans on PS and PC really get along?
I feel like I’m caught in the middle because I do game on consoles and PC.

        • John Hayabusa

          >Can jrpg fans on PS and PC really get along
I am curious if SFV’s PS4 and PC players will get along since the game will have cross-platform play.

          • Shady Shariest

They aren’t really on different platforms. Both are PC’s-

          • ronin4life

And the contention between platforms is actually persistent in that genre from ages ago and not made up.

    • Faiyez

      You seem upset.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    ….great…..know what I have to do…

    • ronin4life

This comment goes great with your current User Pic If feel.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

        a drunk Christmas sceptile

  • Steamy goodness =^_^=

  • idkfa

Cool, first the latest FF’s, now this. More money saved.

  • Wagnaria

Nice! This is great news for non Vita owners who would like to play the Re;Birth series.
As for me I would still stick with my Vita version since I don’t play that much on my PC anyway, plus I still prefer owning physical copies of games I buy as much as possible.

    • Joshua Myers

Definitely XD i didnt play the first neptunia game so dying to play it

  • /|/|ichael

Even the digital distribution nay-sayers should be able to see that this is a good thing for gaming localization by now.

  • Renegade[G]

Can’t believe how many comments got deleted. What a joke!!!!

    • Shady Shariest

We just chatted with one of the mods. Apparently someone of them had enough after a biblical flood of actual troll posts. They are currently looking into it.

    • Gust blade

      Well , it’s mostly:

      “LOLCONSOLEFAGWEGOTYOURNEPGUHEHEHE” and “OMGCOMPABETRAYOURPSILLSTOP”

      so , it’s not a great loss .

I already got one of my comment deleted for no reason in the past , but i can understand why this time .

  • Keko

I’m almost tempted to buy them, just because it has NEP on the title.

    • Shady Shariest

I all ready know two people who will double-dip on them just because :3 Go ahead! For NEP NEP!

      • Renegade[G]

More like triple-dip, since its a port of a port.

        • Shady Shariest

Well. Only somewhat true. There are people who didn’t buy PS3, just PSV and vice versa

          • Blackbishop

This version of neptunia will be a port from the Vita version I guess, and since the original version (PS3) is very different from it(from what I have heard and read), I’m not sure if it counts as triple-dip.

  • Ayylmao

    Thanks for Beta Testing

  • Zack

Dammit! I’m excited that this is happening, but also kinda sour, as my “PC” is a 5-year old laptop that overheats way too easily… I hope the requirements for these games are similar to that of Valkyria Chronicles (which wasn’t much, thankfully).

    • Shady Shariest

Don’t worry, these games shouldn’t be that intensive :3

      • Renegade[G]

These game would pretty much kill my pc though since its freakin ancient…

        • Shady Shariest

Anything from last five years should suffice. And depending on the PC, even a small upgrade to either/or/both CPU/GPU would suffice.

          • Renegade[G]

            Intel Pentium 4 2.40 ghz, 1gig Ram, Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440 -_-

          • ArmoredBoar

…what are you still doing with a P4 in 2014

          • Shady Shariest

It suffices. 3 GHz is the minimum, but playing games like HDN shouldn’t be taxing.

          • malek86

The CPU might manage to hold, but he isn’t going to do much with a MX440 today, it doesn’t have DX9.0 or even shader support (it was a Geforce 2 in disguise). At least a new GPU, even a crappy one for 30 bucks, is going to be mandatory.

          • majestix1988

if he manage to upgrade his pc to Windows 7 and new brand new video card with Direct X11 you can play it and mostly like customize it for make it more playable if you planning to play this game get Valkyria Chronicles for stability testing purposes due its another game exclusive for ps3 technically its a good reference game for neptunia

          • Shady Shariest

Buy more ram, consider a new GPU. If you have a PC-PC, that is. Laptops are trickier. But yeah. Shoot for 6-8 gigs for the minimum.

          • Renegade[G]

I have no incentive to upgrade my pc though since I never play on it. thnx for the advice though..

          • Shady Shariest

Yupo. 4-6 is what you need for everyday usage :3

  • Legacy

Having taken a pass on Fairy Fencer previously, I will now be picking it up once it’s on steam. I had(and still have) no shortage of console RPGs at the time, but even if it just sits in my inventory for a bit, I’d like to support the decision to bring titles like this to Steam. I’m absolutely in love with the current shift in attitude from Japanese developers/publishers towards PC releases.

  • Destiny13777

I guess this is a good alternative way to play Re;Birth 1 for those of us who prefer playing on Playstation/Vita TV, unless they have time to patch it next year.

  • Kurai Buzzwagon

I got rebirth 1 on vita and getting 2 on vita already and see this. I know i will end up bying this on pc too even thou ig ott he vita version. Idea factory why you do this to me My wallet cant handle this D:

  • Brotato Chip

Aww yii neptunia and FFF on pc :D

  • Codex

Oh wow, really loving the attention steam is getting finally. Really hope to see more JRPG titles on steam too, great trend!

  • Tyler Beale

I’ll gladly buy this again (I prefer doing my gaming on PS Vita, and I even platted this) to show my support.

…so long as they don’t pull a Square Enix, that is.

  • Grunwald

Time to double dip on every single Neptunia game!

    Completely worth it.

  • Pinkemon

I’ll always welcome more japanese games on steam! Guess I’ll give these games a try after all, with rebirth in particular now that the “I don’t have a vita yet” excuse won’t work. (Well, okay, since I already have a PS3 there really was no excuse in general but bleh. Steam is more convenient for me anyway.)

  • TheSwordUser

This was a good time to assemble new gaming PC (not like these games are going to be demanding, but still it’s nice to have some headroom, I will just use it for potential downsampling).

  • is this gonna be the vita version or the ps3 version?

    • Shun Kurosaki

given previous news articles of the Rebirth games being sent to the ESRB for rating for a PC releaser, I think it’ll be the rebirth versions

    • Nyxeth

The Neptunia port will be the rebirth version.

  • Fronkhead

Less (read: none) of this platform warzzz posts/complaints, to the minority doing so, please.

If you see such comments just ignore them rather than bring attention to them. Thanks.

  • Demeanor

Playing Rebirth1 on Vita right now and I’m having a blast, just started Chapter 7 (yay got Histy!)
Material gathering and item crafting/dungeon feature developing is quite addictive. Also, thank GOD for the “Battle” dev section, sooo many useful features there!

  • Yagami Mao

    good news :)

  • Kai2591

Every new Japanese game that comes to Steam makes me a happier man~

“Nowadays, the demand for moé is quite high overseas, so, we must quickly release the main titles,” – emphasis on ‘MUST’ lol.

    Viva JRPGs!
    Viva moe!

  • Takane Shijou

Bought it on the PS3, bought it on the Vita, and I know I’ll buy it again on Steam.

Really can’t wait to see what this year brings for things porting to PC and such, but that won’t stop me from picking them up on the consoles as well.

  • Woot Woot

    FFF :O

  • Nicholas Perry

YES! Hopefully they are based on the PSVita remakes though…

  • Napalnman1231

    I’m on that train.

First, the announcement of HDN RE;1 and RE;2. Now this. Nice way to finish the year 2014

  • Kornelious

Jeez Idea factory, Slow down! You’ve already announced 4 other titles coming to the west early nect year and now this!…….I can’t help but feel happy for how fast and how many Nep-Nep games and the like we’re getting :,)

  • Creature of the rotten sea .

    ALL OF MY MONEY

  • Why yes, this is wonderful! I am pleased this is finally happening!

I will buy handily buy your games on Steam. Multiple copies, even!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW1QY76d-40

  • mojack411

Wow that Japanese are really jumping on the PC bandwagon when it comes to JRPGs. First Valkyria Chronicles now this. This pleases me.

    • magicalfollower

Yeah! And i just bought Trails in the Sky on Steam right now with a -50% discount on a flash sale. :D

  • TheManWithPants

WOOOOOOOO, 2015 will be an awesome year. Now they just need to release those Date A Live games, and I’ll be set. …A guy can dream, can’t he?

    • ken abe

      2015- year of kawaii <3

  • Satoshi Ookami

I do wonder if this is a good step…
Is there enough big J-games fanbase among PC gamers?

    • Indeed, we are quite many.

      • ken abe

        im one eh hee~ :)

    • Matty

Where have you been? Of course there is! There’s tons of fans of Japanese games on Steam

      • Satoshi Ookami

Well… on PSN obviously since I know Neps? =D

Care to share the list? (Excluding FF and Agarest, I know about them)

  • Kumiko Akimoto

What about releasing Hakouki to the pc as well because my phone only has 2 gb. or giving us another one your otome games. You know just talking to myself here.

  • Zetta Rockefeller

I hope they port the new ps4 game as well and use the ps4 engine on PC re;birth ports.

Maybe go the extra mile and add a 1080p option and linux/mac support

    • Zoozbuh

I really can’t imagine Compile Heart going to that much effort for a PC port. Like seriously, have you seen how lazy the graphics/assets in each game are? I love Neptunia, but keep your hopes low is my advice.

      • Hikari Langley

Yep, it’s a port, not an upgrade. So at the most it MIGHT have custom resoultion, but nothing more besides the DLC, how ever they do that.

  • Nisx

Dead or Alive 5,Final Fantasy XIII, GTA 5 and now this,
what were the reason of buying last generation consoles
then, when everything come to PC.

  • TJF588

    Peashy Master Race!

  • Morricane

When I read about these steam releases I always hope I’d get the option to install with Japanese text instead of some English translation to boot…:o
