Final Fantasy XV Director Would Like To Release The Game Simultaneously Worldwide

Recommended Videos

We’re still not sure when Final Fantasy XV will release, nor do we even have a time frame yet, but director Hajime Tabata recently spoke with LevelUp about how he wants to see the game get a simultaneous worldwide release

The topic begins at the 5:55 mark of the video, where Tabata shared his thoughts on the future of RPGs as a genre:

“This time, I’ve come to Mexico, and I’m currently going through a valuable experience, with an immense amount of culture here that you can’t really understand unless you actually come here,” Tabata told Levelup, which is a Mexican website. “That said, it doesn’t mean that everyone can simply go around the world and experience all the culture. However, as we develop Final Fantasy XV, I feel that RPGs—especially RPGs developed for high-end consoles—have the power and potential to offer something similar.”

While on the subject of the future of RPGs, Tabata said that he believes the genre won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, as long as fans are offered valuable experiences.

Whether an RPG’s battle system is action-oriented or turn-based, Tabata thinks that it depends on the game-design and how the system is connected to the world, and what the developers would like to offer players. He also said that he believes there’s a good chance that turn-based battle systems will be around for a while.

“Unfortunately I can’t tell you when it will be released, but I believe that we’d like to release it around the world,” Tabata says. “We’re not thinking about delaying the game in different parts around the world. We’d like to have everyone experience Final Fantasy XV together, and as close as possible.”

Final Fantasy XV is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Square have also hinted at an eventual PC release a few times in the past.
