Sword Art Online: Lost Song Demonstrates Its Movement Actions And Battles

For the first time in a Sword Art Online game, players will get to fight both on land and while flying. Bandai Namco shares a look at some more footage of Sword Art Online: Lost Song, that demonstrates what it’s like to fly and take out enemies in mid-air.

In Sword Art Online: Lost Song, the action takes place both on land and in mid-air. The video starts out with a look at how you walk, dash, then fly. By pressing the up button, your character flies, and the left thumb stick is used to control the aerial movements, while the right stick is used for camera controls.

Additionally, you can get a momentary boost by holding down the R1 button, and you can also do some evasive maneuvers with the X button during a speed-up, as part of the “Aerial Drive” action. The X button on its own will slow you down in mid-air, or it can be pressed twice for a 180 degree turn.

There are a few other actions that let you adjust your flight, making it easier to move around, and avoid hits when needed.

The second video shows more of the game’s battle action, starting with a look at Kirito and his dual blades. He’s shown locking on to aerial targets, and follows up with a combo of weak and strong attacks.

Pressing R1 and attack results in a powerful skill, but it uses up MP, so you won’t be able to use it all the time. The next part shows a look at some long-ranged combat with Sinon and her bow and arrow. Unlike melee weapons, you can aim and lock-on to nearby enemies.

We also get a look at Asuna showing off some of her magic attacks while flying. In addition to offensive spells, magic can be used to heal and support allies. The buffs are indicated as icons next to the HP bars.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song releases in Japan on March 26, 2015 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
