Telepath Tactics Puts A Multiplayer Spin On Tactical RPGs

Sinister Design has announced that its turn-based tactical RPG Telepath Tactics will be coming out for Windows, Mac, and Linux on April 16th. It’ll be available on Steam and GOG.com.

Telepath Tactics was born after its creator Craig Stern was playing Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and had a sudden urge to have a multiplayer experience with the game. He then decided to make it himself. His goal was, apparently, to “marry the very best mechanics of classic series like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Disgaea to skill-based determinism.”

As such, Telepath Tactics lets you build an army from 23 classes with a potential 110 different attacks as you level them up. Core to the game are the environmental kills such as shoving enemies off cliffs, or into water and lava. The battlefield can also be altered by destroying walls with explosives, freezing water, and building bridges, to give a few examples.

And, of course, it has multiplayer matches for between two to six people, with multiple play modes available including team matches. Lastly, Telepath Tactics has a map editor so you can create your own battlefields or try out ones made by other players.

Oh, and if you’re wondering what the game’s title is all about, it’s set in an “oddball steampunk universe” in which generals use telepathy to issue commands to their soldiers. There are also knights that ride armored praying mantises. No, really. Look…
