The First Videogame Ever Kickstarted Is Out Now On PC And Wii U

High Strangeness has had quite the development journey. It was actually the first videogame to be successfully funded on Kickstarter way back in 2009. The plan back then was to bring the game to PC and Xbox Live in 2010. That never happened.

In fact, only now, in 2015, has the game finally been released. It’s available now on PC through Steam and the Wii U eShop. But was it worth the wait?

You’ll have to decide that for yourself. But to help you along, here’s a description of what High Strangeness is all about: You play as a Boyd who travels with his sarcastic feline friend between two worlds to save the multiverse. These two worlds are depicted with different graphical styles. One of them is 8-bit while the other is 16-bit. Switching between each world allows you to solve puzzles and figure out secrets.

As well as the graphics, High Strangeness takes further inspiration from old-school adventure-RPGs in its structure and how it plays. In fact, its creator notes that a “scene toward the beginning of High Strangeness will no doubt look familiar to any gamer who’s played such classics as Chrono Trigger, Star Tropics, or Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.”
