Persona 4: Dancing All Night’s Theme May Be Silly, But The Story Will Have Dark Undertones

Persona 4: Dancing All Night is a music game spin-off developed by Hatsune Miku: Project Diva developer Dingo. Players engage in dance battles with shadows on the Midnight Stage. Seeing Teddie in an Elvis outfit may look out of place, but Atlus USA assures us the story will be a typical Persona tale.

“The original story in Persona 4 had a lot of comedy, but at the core of it was a serial murder case,” said Yu Namba, Project Lead at Atlus USA. “We can’t say too much about the story, but Persona 4: Dancing All Night will have something like that. Even though it’s going to be nice and casual with dancing, it’s very Persona.”

Events in the Vita game take place after Persona 4: Golden’s epilogue. Rise has gone back to being an idol and a rumor has spread that if you see a certain video at midnight you’ll never wake up. When members of Kanamin Kitchen, Rise’s idol group, start disappearing, Rise calls upon Yu Narukami (the protagonist) and the Investigation Team to solve the new mystery. Persona 4: Dancing All Night’s story is its own and Namba stated that even if you haven’t played the other games, you won’t get too lost. Most of the references back to the Persona 4 saga have the strongest ties to Persona 4 or the Vita version, Persona 4: Golden.

“There are subtle nuances and inside jokes that refer back to Persona 4 that our localization staff paid attention to. There are some Teddie lines that are dance and music specific. Look forward to seeing those,” Namba added.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night has a ton of costumes from dresses for the dudes to downloadable summer vacation costumes based on Persona 4: Golden. “There are going to be a lot of different costumes. We can say most and hopefully all costumes will come over,” Namba replied when we asked about the costumes.
