Here’s What You Need To Know About The Director Of Red Ash

Recommended Videos

Red Ash, Comcept’s spiritual successor to Mega Man Legends, is being directed by Masahiro Yasuma. In a recent update, Comcept shared a list of achievements to Yasuma’s name over the past few years, and it provides a little insight into his background and the kind of games he’s worked on. Let’s begin with those.

  • Mega Man Battle & Chase – Main Planner & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Legends – Event & Mini-game Planner
  • The Misadventures of Tron Bonne – Main Planner & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Battle Network – Director & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Battle Network 2 – Director & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Battle Network 3 – Director & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Battle Network 4 – Director & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Battle Network 5 – Director & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Battle Network 6 – Director & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Star Force – Director & Game Designer
  • Mega Man Star Force 2 – Main Planner
  • Mega Man Star Force 3 – Director & Game Designer
  • Rockman.EXE: Operate Shooting Star – Series Director
  • Yaiba: NINJA GAIDEN Z – Game Director

In a message posted to the Kickstarter blog, Yasuma states: “I was given the interesting job of planning smaller events in [Mega Man] Legends. In order to help fulfill the goal of “a game with lots of freedom, where it’s even fun to just wander around”, I filled the world with lots of minor props and events.”

“For example, if you kicked an empty can into a certain place, something would happen. You could shoot at birds, pick up erotic magazines (they were just manga overseas!), kick and break vending machines, and so many more little details that I can’t even count them! In Tron Bonne I came up with the idea of a command system, where you could lock on to something and tell your Servbots to do various things depending on what it was. Now that I think about it, it wasn’t really that much different!”

Red Ash is in development for PC and an as-yet-undecided console.
