August 27 marked the 2-year anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and, to celebrate the occasion, a special in-game event called “The Rising” was announced on the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone.
As seen on the map above, the quest begins in Ul’dah, where you learn that a massive bug problem is poised to ruin the celebration. Of course, it is your job as Warrior of Light to find a way to stop this infestation.
As you progress through the event, you will have the chance to participate in unique FATE battles, set off a few comically-huge firecrackers, as well as acquire commemorative items and the Yugiri and Iceheart minions. You might even be surprised by a few of the special guests you meet along the way.
The Rising began on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 1:00 a.m. and will last until Monday, September 7, 2015 7:59 a.m. (PDT).
