Dark Souls III Mages Getting An MP Bar

Recommended Videos

Dark Souls III is going to be a little more like Demon’s Souls than its precursors in one important aspect. Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware’s President, spoke to Game Informer and revealed that the magic system will be different in the third installment of the game to encourage spell usage.

Like Demon’s Souls, player characters in Dark Souls III will have an MP bar that will show how much magical power they have left. They will then be able to cast spells accordingly, with each one having its own requirements. In previous games, players had charge limits, which were restored by taking a moment to rest by a fire.

Miyazaki also revealed that FromSoftware will be working on spells as well. Miracle and fire spells will return, among others, but will also be unique and to allow for greater character customization. A new system will be available with core spells having new elements to them.

Dark Souls III will be released in 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
