Muv-Luv Kickstarter Wants $250,000 To Bring The Series To The West

The Muv-Luv Team is hoping to receive enough funding from Kickstarter backers to bring Muv-Luv, a massive visual novel series from Koki Yoshimune, creator of Kimi ga Nozumu Eien, to English speaking audiences. If $250,000 is raised, Muv-Luv, which includes [Extra] and [Unlimited], and Muv-Luv Alternative will bring the original trilogy to Windows PCs.

All three games star Takeru Shirogane, a third year in high school. The first game focuses on a love triangle between him and two girls, a mysterious woman named Meiya Mitsurugi who suddenly appears in his bed and a childhood friend named Sumika Kagami. In the sequel, Takeru is part of a parallel world’s United Nation Force fighting BETA aliens, meeting alternate versions of friends from the pervious game and searching for Sumika. In the third part, Takeru finds he’s still in the Unlimited alternate reality.

The Kickstarter version of the Muv-Luv trilogy will feature the HD assets and graphics from the PlayStation 3 versions of Muv Luv and Muv Luv Alternative. The game engine will be updated to support Windows 10, and the original developer, age-soft, will be providing content.

A number of Muv-Luv stretch goals have also been announced. If $400,000 is raised, the game will get additional original and new unlockable content, CGs, and music. The $500,000 stretch goal adds a Vita version of the game to the docket. The $600,000 goal adds an official guide and digital lore browser, while the $720,000 goal will bring the PlayStation 3 exclusive Photon Melodies and Photon Flowers side-stories to the Windows PC version in English.

The smallest amount of money that can be pledged to get a copy of the game is $25 for Muv-Luv and $35 for Muv-Luv Alternative. To get a copy of the trilogy, $60 must be pledged. Physical copies of the trilogy will be available if $80 is pledged.

The Muv-Luv Kickstarter will end on November 3. The games are expected to be released in August 2016. Both games are also on Steam Greenlight.
