Sega has made important announcements concerning release dates for the PlayStation 4 version of Phantasy Star Online 2. The massive multiplayer online RPG will be receiving a beta in Japan at the end of February. This is to prepare for the spring 2016 launch of the full game on the console.

In addition, Sega confirmed that Phantasy Star Online 2 will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription. People will be able to play online without incurring that additional fee.

Exact dates for the Phantasy Star Online 2 PlayStation 4 beta and launch have yet to be announced. Sega has yet to say anything about a release of the MMORPG outside of Japan.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is immediately available for Windows PCs and the PlayStation Vita in Japan.
