Nintendo’s Latest Financial Results Show Splatoon At 4 Million, Amiibo Sales, And More

Nintendo released their latest financial report for their last nine months from April through December 2015 on the official website, along with a look at their top-selling software and hardware sale units.

 

While sales are down by 3.9% through the nine month period, their profits are up 34.4%. As of December 31, 2015 the total lifetime sales for the Wii U hardware are at 12.60 million units sold with its software having sold 79.30 million units. Lifetime sales for the Nintendo 3DS console are at 57.94 million units for the hardware and 264.53 million for its software.

 

Here are the software that were global million-sellers during the nine-month period from April to December 2015:

 

Nintendo 3DS

  • Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer—2.93 million
  • Pokémon Omega Ruby/Pokémon Alpha Sapphire—1.52 million
  • Mario Kart 7—1.33 million
  • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS—1.16 million
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes—1.08 million

 

Wii U

  • Splatoon—4.06 million
  • Super Mario Maker—3.34 million
  • Mario Kart 8—2.13 million
  • Yoshi’s Woolly World—1.31 million

 

Following, is a look at the top-10 software for both consoles (lifetime sales):

 

Nintendo 3DS

  • Pokémon X/Y—14.46 million
  • Mario Kart 7—13.03 million
  • Pokémon Omega Ruby/Sapphire—11.46 million
  • Super Mario 3D Land—10.04 million
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf—9.86 million
  • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS—7.92 million
  • Tomodachi Life—4.89 million
  • Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon—4.75 million
  • Nintendogs+cats—3.96 million

 

Wii U

  • Mario Kart 8—7.24 million
  • New Super Mario Bros. U—5.08 million
  • Nintendo Land—5.02 million
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U—4.61 million
  • Splatoon—4.06 million
  • New Super Luigi U—2.42 million
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD—1.69 million
  • Mario Party 10—1.65 million

 

For amiibo, the figure-type and the card-type sold approximately 20.50 million units and approximately 21.50 million units,respectively, and the platform showed strong performance globally without losing momentum. Furthermore, sales of additional download content for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U increased and total download sales reached 30.5 billion yen.
