Kingdom Hearts: Unchained χ released on smartphone in North America today, but the original browser game, Kingdom Hearts χ, is shutting down in Japan this September, Square Enix announced.

According to the announcement, the browser game will close in early September. Square Enix thanks fans for having played the game for so long since it started back in July 2013, but they apologize for having to announce that the service will be ending.

The company will announce a proper day for when the service ends, along with the final day for currency transactions and other information on a later date.

This has no effect on the smartphone game, Kingdom Hearts: Unchained χ, which will remain available for play in both North America and Japan.
