Square Enix announced that they’re going to host the first live stream in English for their upcoming RPG, I am Setsuna, for PlayStation 4 and PC. Here are some details on the event.
The live stream will take place tomorrow, Friday April 22, 2016 at 10:00am PT/1:00pm ET/5:00pm GMT.
Here are some thoughts and details on the game from Sunil of Square Enix Japan’s community team:
To give you an idea of what to expect, here is a description of what the team are trying to achieve with this game; “Led by director Atsushi Hashimoto, Tokyo RPG Factory aims to capture the narrative depth, impactful storytelling and masterful character development inspired by the golden era of Japanese role-playing games and bring them to current hardware and technology. With a battle system inspired by the classic hit Chrono Trigger, I am Setsuna brings back authentic RPG gameplay, beautiful art design and a sorrowful story to the new generation.”
And here are a few words about Tokyo RPG Factory; “Tokyo RPG Factory is a newly established studio specializing in Japanese RPGs, started in August 2014. The studio revisits the ethos used to develop past RPGs to create a completely new RPG series, which will introduce the authentic JRPG style to current hardware using the technologies of today.” As a huge fan of older RPGs this instantly put a smile on my face when I first read it.
From what I’ve seen so far, the game reminds me a lot of Chrono Trigger (which is one of my favourite games of all time) especially as the battle systems in both games are very similar. So if you enjoyed Chrono Trigger then you’ll definitely want to tune in!
