Koei Tecmo shared the latest on their upcoming samurai action RPG Nioh at Gamescom 2016, with new info on the game’s second demo for PS4, along with a new trailer and screenshots for the demo.
Following the Alpha Demo back in April, Koei Tecmo is releasing a Nioh Beta Demo, which adds a number of gameplay changes made from fan feedback, and they say that these changes will be immediately noticeable once you get to try it out.
The first stage of the upcoming Beta Demo includes new challenges and another chance to fight for the mysterious Mark of the Conqueror DLC. Those who conquered Usuki and procured the DLC from the Alpha Demo will also get a set of weapons and more money to start. They’ll also get to play through the new Nakatsu stage without having to clear Usuki.
As for the new Nakatsu stage, it’’ takes William through a mountain path leading to a deep cave, where he’ll go up against humans and supernatural enemies alike, including the seductive Hinoenma, a Yokai under the guise of a beautiful woman. By completeing the Nakatsu stage, players will be rewarded with the Mark of the Strong DLC, which becomes available at launch.
Additionally, those who beat Usuki and Nakatsu can re-visit the stages in the Twilight mission, where stronger enemies and new foes await, along with highly-valued items. The Beta Demo features plenty of new weapons, including the long-ranged hand cannon rifle, and a bunch of new katanas, including dual-wielded katanas. The Beta also adds Spears, Axes, and Hammers to give more variety in the battle department. We’ll also get to try out the new Onmyo Magic and Ninjustu elements of combat, which provide William with attack bonuses and special techniques.
And finally, a new Traininig Dojo feature is included in the demo. This is basically a tutorial stage that teaches new players how to fight with a katana, the most basic yet refined weapon of Nioh.
Nioh is in development for PlayStation 4. The new Beta Demo launches on August 23 and will be available until September 6, 2016.
