On November 5, 2016, Double Fine and iam8bit’s Day of the Devs 2016 was held in San Francisco, California. Multiple indie games were in attendance, with Yooka-Laylee among them. GameXplain was able capture fifteen minutes of off-screen footage from Playtonic Games’ platformer, showing the duo interacting with NPCs and collecting Quills.

The Yooka-Laylee Day of the Devs footage begins with Yooka and Laylee grabbing some quills and learning there are 200 of them on each world. They then run into Trowzer the snake. He teaches them how to roll up inclines to reach new places. From there, they explore some of this initial area, collect some Ghost Writers, five ghosts found in each level that offer a treasure when freed. They also come across Clara the skeleton and must save her from the Corplets who want to eat her. All sorts of adventures ensue as they continue through the area.

Yooka-Laylee will come to the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, Xbox One, and PC in the first quarter of 2017.
