Pokémon Snap Joins North America’s Virtual Console

One of the most unconventional Pokémon games is joining the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console in North America. Beginning today, people can pick up and begin playing Pokémon Snap again. In this Nintendo 64 spin-off, players follow Todd Snap as he assists Professor Oak by taking pictures of Pokémon while traveling through their natural environments in the Zero-One.

Essentially, Pokémon Snap is an on-rails shooter, only you’re shooting pictures to catch Pokémon at their best moments. You can visit Pokémon Island’s beach, cave, river, tunnel, valley and volcano in search of 63 different kinds of Pokémon. Getting pictures of the Cubone, Dugtrio, Kingler, Koffing, Mewtwo, and Pinsir Pokémon Signs in the six locations gives you access to Rainbow Cloud, a secret course where you can take pictures of Mew. Revisiting completed courses is encouraged, as Todd acquires new equipment, like food, pester balls, and a Poké Flute, that can lead to new photo opportunities.

Pokémon Snap is $9.99 in the Nintendo Wii U eShop.
