Persona 5 Trailer Takes Us Into Metaverse Palaces

Atlus’ latest Persona 5 trailer takes us into this installment’s dungeons. When night falls, the Phantom Thieves use their cell phones to connect to the Metaverse. This world is essentially mankind’s collective unconscious and home to the Palaces of corrupted people. The Phantom Thieves’ job is to head into a Palace, fight its ruler, and steal the Treasure, the ruler’s desire. When the Treasure is gone, the person the Palace belongs to can reform.

Palaces are filled with Shadows. These familiar Persona foes return with new forms in Persona 5. This means there are new ways of dealing with them. For example, you need to be sneaky when encountering them, as being caught by Shadows too many times will have you evicted from the Palace for the night. Fighting them off after a sneak attack works, as does holding up Shadows to try and avoid a battle, get money, or convince them to join you as a new Persona is also an option.

Persona 5 will come to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on April 4, 2017.
