Tauronos Turns The Myth Of The Minotaur Into A Horror Game

Tauronos retells the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur as a top-down horror game, one where players will need to avoid the colossal beast while finding a way out of its labyrinth.

The minotaur is constantly searching for the player in Tauronos. As such, players will need to stay ahead of it in a pitch-black maze, finding paths to other floors of the labyrinth and avoiding traps to stay out of its clutches. The labyrinth uses some random elements with its minotaur and exit placement, too, so players won’t be able to learn one set way to escape the beast.

As the minotaur gets more aggressive and dangerous the further players go, players will want to acquire upgrades in order to survive. Various pieces of armor are lying throughout the labyrinth, but for players to collect them, they will have to spend time standing on the place they are located, letting the minotaur get ever-closer. These are necessary to kill the beast, though, so players have no choice but to take the risk.

Players will also find hidden magical items that can help them for a limited time, telling them where the minotaur is currently located, reveal obstacles, heal them, and more.

Tauronos is currently raising votes on Steam Greenlight, with a demo available to try on Itch.io
