Square Enix revealed Samurai Rising as the “ultimate action RPG” which released on smartphone last June, and it actually looked pretty cool with its Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles-style action as well as many familiar Final Fantasy elements and jobs such as Dragoon, White Mage, Black Mage, and more.

Fast forward a little less than a year to today, Square Enix announced that Samurai Rising is terminating its service on July 14, 2017 at 3:00pm JST. The company says the effort to bring good service for the game was there, but after facing difficulties in maintaining what they would consider satisfactory service, the company decided it would be in their best interest to bring it to an end.

Information on its micro-transaction and schedule until service termination will be announced via the official website on a later date.

If you’re wondering what exactly went wrong with the game, Square Enix actually went as far as “dissing” themselves in a series of rap videos about the problems for the smartphone title, which you can check out in our earlier report. The termination will be just one of the many we’ve already seen so far in 2017.

Samurai Rising launched in Japan on June 2, 2016 for iPhone and Android.
