While there are no Virtual Console games on either the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo Wii U horizon today, the Nintendo Switch is making something old seem new again. ACA NeoGeo Sengoku is now available on the system in both North America and Europe. This is a beat’em up that originally appeared in arcades and on the Neo Geo, though it also appeared on the Super Famicom, Neo Geo CD, and PlayStation 2.
In ACA NeoGeo Sengoku, players follow a ninja and cowboy as they fight a series of undead ghosts and zombies from the Sengoku period that were resurrected by a horrifying warlord. Since the ninja and cowboy are descendants of the two samurais who originally defeated this warlord, they can occasionally transform into a ninja, samurai, or wolf after defeating certain enemies. Your goal in each stage is to survive waves of enemies, defeating all of them. Fortunately, power up-orbs appear to recover health or give characters special attacks.
