Nintendo Ends Production Of Standard New Nintendo 3DS In Japan

Nintendo has formally ended production of the New Nintendo 3DS console (the non-XL one) in Japan, according to the company’s official website.

 

The New Nintendo 3DS first launched in Japan on October 11, 2014 alongside the New Nintendo XL (called New Nintendo 3DS LL in Japan). As of December 31, 2016, the standard New 3DS has sold 2.49 million units worldwide while the New 3DS XL has gone on to be the model of choice with 9.82 million units.

 

The New Nintendo 3DS saw a general release in Europe on February 13, 2015 and later in North America on September 25, 2015.
