Granzella Is Working With The Kobe Fire Department On Disaster Report 4 Plus [Update: 2018 Release]

Famitsu this week had some more information to share about Disaster Report 4 Plus – specifically the fact that Granzella will be working together with the Kobe City Fire Department on representing circumstances more realistically. Kobe was one of the major affected areas in the Great Hanshin earthquake, where nearly 6,500 people died in the tremors and subsequent fires. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089]

It was mentioned that the Kobe Fire Department contacted Granzella directly to ask if they could cooperate on the game. Fire lieutenant Takaoka commented, saying that he had known about the popularity of the series from his student days, where he worked a part-time job at a game shop; if more people could learn the procedures that should be taken in the event of a disaster or fire, then it would be for the better. The Fire Department thought it was a shame that the game was cancelled before.

Other information about the game were revealed as well. Soil liquefaction will be represented faithfully in the game, and it was confirmed that the series’ staple gameplay of maneuvering through the crumbling areas by walking, running, crouching and crawling would return. The Stress Gauge, which would reduce your maximum HP as events affected the main character in Disaster Report 3, will return as well.

Graphics have also been polished up, and there will be a lot of people in each area. The game will lean more towards the realistic side, compared to City Shrouded in Shadow.

Disaster Report 4 Plus will be released for PlayStation 4, with PlayStation VR support.

Update: A report from Hachima reveals that Diaster Report 4 Plus will release in 2018 in Japan for PlayStation 4.
