A free update is heading to Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle on December 8, 2017. Ubisoft has announced Versus Mode. This will be added to all copies of the game via a patch.

Versus Mode will allow local competitive multiplayer in-game. Each person picks three of the game’s heroes for their team, each with three preset builds. There will be four maps to fight on. Power ups that do things like let a character act a second time or deal more damage that turn can appear. (The appearance of items can be altered via settings.)

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is available for the Nintendo Switch.
