Fans around the world were excited to hear about the announcement Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection containing 12 classic titles, but some fans in Japan felt they got the short end of the fight stick.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection featuring 12 titles for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC was announced on December 10 in the West, but the Japanese release wasn’t announced until a couple days after that.

Capcom shared some details on the release for Japan, and it was the small print on that upset fans who were looking forward to playing the classic fighters. It reads “Since all titles’ contents are based on the overseas versions, the titles, voicing, and text will be in English.”

To make matters worse, it also notes that the Street Fighter Alpha series, which is known as the Street Fighter Zero series in Japan, will be going with the English title names for the collection.

Among the upset fans in Japan is PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya who was quite vocal about his displeasure and didn’t hold back any punches as he called the move lazy and nothing but a quick cash grab by Capcom for simply ripping the Western version of the game for the Japanese release.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection releases in May 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can check out its announcement trailer, screenshots, and details in our previous report.
