Super Retro Boy Has Been Put On Hold

Retro-Bit has hit the pause button on the Super Retro Boy, its handheld designed to play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games. The device was first revealed at CES 2017 and set for an August 2017 release window. However, the project has now been put on hold for an indefinite amount of time, due to a Nintendo filing some trademark renewals. (Thanks, NintendoLife!)

Back in September 2017, Nintendo applied for trademarks pertaining to the Game Boy in both Japan and Europe. As a result of the trademarks, Retro-Bit is exercising caution regarding the Super Retro Boy to avoid any legal complications. It has put that system on hold and is focusing on its cartridges and Super Retro Cade.

The Super Retro Boy was going to have a ten hour battery, include a TFT HD scratch and shatter-resistant screen, and even come bundled with a 10-in-1 game cartridge for $79.99.
