BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle Director Talks About DLC Pricing

Recommended Videos

Arc System Works recently revealed that half the 40-character roster of BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will be available via paid DLC. In an interview with Famitsu, director Toshimichi Mori share more on the topic. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]

Here are highlights from the interview:

  • If there’s enough support, Mori would like to keep the BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle series going.

  • The reason the game is on home console is because Mori wants to do away with a difference in abilities between Japanese players and players overseas. Meaning he wanted to keep things even without the Japanese players getting a head start with an arcade version.

  • The game is being made with the premise of playing with a gamepad.

  • Arc System Works plan on releasing BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle at a lower cost so that more people can get the game and play. From there if they enjoy the game they can purchase the DLC characters.

  • According to Mori, purchasing all the DLC after getting the base game wont be that much more expensive than a full-priced game.

The pricing for the game in Japan is 5,800 yen. That’s pretty cheap compared to the average 6,800~8,400 yen we see in Japan. That said, sounds like getting all the DLC characters will go for somewhere around 2,000 yen ($18.26 USD) to 3,000 yen ($27.39 USD).

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle releases for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in Japan and Asia on May 31, 2018. It’ll release in North America on June 5, 2018. Check our previous report for more information on the game’s DLC plans.
