Player Hacks Splatoon 2 Leaderboards To Ask For Anticheat

The Rank X leaderboard in Splatoon 2 has been hacked, as part of a person’s call for anticheat to be added to the game. The person in question, who goes by the username PleaseAddAntiCheat on Reddit, used their skills to hack edit their X Power so the Top Players section in the Rank X leaderboard would read “Please add anticheat.” This bumped out anyone who would have legitimately earned the top scores in Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker and Clam Blitz out of the way. (The user did not use hacks to actually cheat in the actual game.)

After accomplishing the hack, PleaseAddAntiCheat made a statement on the Splatoon 2 subreddit. They provided an image from the Nintendo Online mobile app as proof of their actions. They called for security measures to be added to the game, to overcome “ill-purposed griefers who mod their game to victory.” They also note that they would accept a console ban as punishment for their hacking the Rank X leaderboard in the game to send the message.

Nintendo has not issued a comment in response to this Splatoon 2 hack. However, PleaseAddAntiCheat shared an image on the subreddit to note that action had been taken against them, as their X Power had been dropped down to zero.

Splatoon 2 is available for the Nintendo Switch.
