Switch your Wii version and download different games

By Spencer . December 13, 2006 . 5:49pm

Heres a video of a cool Wii trick. By switching your consoles location you can enter different Wii Shops and pick up unreleased Wii games. By switching over to the UK a Wii owner in New Zealand was able to get Bomberman 93 and other TurboGrafix 16 goodness early. A killer trick for PAL Wii owners who have fragmented Virtual Console releases, but it means nothing if youre in Japan or North America. The Japanese Wii has no option to change the consoles region and while you can switch the North American Wiis region Japan and the UK arent options. I messed around with my US Wii and switched it to Peru, Canada and Jamaica earlier to see if there were any differences on the Virtual Console. Unfortunately, there are no hidden games in those regions. Anyone want try Venezuela or Costa Rica?

This is pretty neat. I live in the US, and I tried every option. No hidden games unfortunatley. I’ll definatleyt be trying this in the future though. Thanks

We need to figure out how to add Japan to the region selection. Maybe a BIOS or firmware hack is available.
