The original soundtrack for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to go on sale in Japan. Columbia Japan released a new promotional video to commemorate the occasion.
The soundtrack is actually split into two. There is the four-disc Animal Crossing New Horizons Original Sountrack and a three-disc K.K. Slider Music Collection.
The Animal Crossing New Horizons Original Soundtrack is divided into four discs. Tracks are sorted based on their nature. For example, the first disc contains the default background music for all twenty-four in-game hours, plus the opening theme. The second disc contains the variants of the hourly themes that play when it’s raining or snowing. The third disc contains character- and location-specific music, like the Able Sisters’ store theme or Tom Nook’s theme. Finally, the fourth disc contains situation-specific, music, such as the Fireworks Festival theme, Easter event theme, Christmas Eve, and the music that plays when you’re being chased by wasps.
The K.K. Slider Music Collection, meanwhile, compiles the tunes played by Animal Crossing New Horizons‘ most prolific musician. The soundtrack is normally only available in-game. It must be played using an in-game record player or by requesting tracks from K.K. himself.
Though the soundtrack can be purchased separately, a set of all seven discs is available for sale. It includes a special box with art of Tom Nook, the Nook Nephews, Isabelle, and K.K. Silder, as well as various villagers from the game. The pack also includes a K.K. Slider earphone case. There’s also a booklet compiling the various K.K. Slider album artworks, all done up in the style of a music magazine.
The Animal Crossing New Horizons soundtrack goes on sale in Japan via Columbia Japan’s Online Store on June 9, 2021. The box set costs JPY 11,000 (about USD $100). The Animal Crossing manga will be localized and published by Viz Media. The game itself is available on the Nintendo Switch.
