Capcom shared their overview of strategies and plans for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2018. In addition to a look at the company’s future expectations there’s a little teaser for a “major” title to be released by March 31, 2018.
Here’s a look at the first part of their strategic objectives and plans for digital contents:
Reap stable contributions from major brands
- Launch 2 major titles
- Bolster lineup of current-generation console re-releases;promote multiplatform development, including for the Nintendo Switch
- Explore leading-edge markets, such as eSports with Street Fighter V
- Focus on brand penetration in growth regions such as Asia to establish future revenue sources
Grow revenue with digital downloads (full game and additional content)
- Accelerate roll-out of digital download offerings from our back catalog of 79 million-seller titles and other contents-based assets
- Digital revenue forecast: 33% of Consumer net sales
The above is a look at Capcom’s sales plan for major consumer titles. It shows its expectations of 2 million from Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite as well as an additional two million from Resident Evil 7 through the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018.
The more interesting part is the “Major Title” that was thrown in the graph, without any plans or platform revealed. There’s no telling whether it’s a new title or something we’ve already seen, but should be a matter of time until we find out with E3 less than a couple months away.
Next, here’s a look at the unit sales plan for the consumer business:
It’s pretty interesting to see how much things have changed from last year with package units from Japan and North America flipping numbers and plans for a healthy increase in the West.
Capcom is also looking to build alliances while bolstering use of IP to adapt to the ever-changing mobile market. They’re also looking to revitalize existing online titles for PC.
