Square Enix released a new teaser trailer showing gameplay for the upcoming smartphone tactical RPG, Dragon Quest Tact.

Dragon Quest Tact is a tactical RPG where you command familiar monsters from the series. It also has turn-based elements from the Dragon Quest series. However, unlike the traditional RPG battles from the series, Dragon Quest Tact involves moving 3D monsters on grid-based maps. Staff includes Yuji Horii as its General Director, Akira Toriyama as Monster Designer, and Koichi Sugiyama as the composer.

The game will release in 2020 but those accepted to the closed beta test will get to play it earlier starting February 27, 2020. Those of you interested in signing up for the closed beta test can do so at the official website. The application period started today and will be available until February 25, 2020 at 9:59 am JST.

The closed beta test will accept a total of 20,000 applicants. 10,000 will be from iOS users and the other 10,000 for Android. In the case more than 20,000 people apply, the winners will be chosen through a lottery for a chance to be among the first to check out Dragon Quest Tact gameplay.

As for the closed beta test itself, it will begin on February 27 and end on March 5, 2020.
