Taiwanese indie studio maJAJa has announced that their sidescrolling action RPG Dungeon Munchies is set to join Steam Early Access on June 6, 2019. In Dungeon Munchies, what you eat determines your playstyle.
Essentially, the game takes the fun aspects of progression found in sidescrolling action RPGs, and turns it into a customizable procedure that is tied to your progress through the dungeons. The story goes that you have died, only to reawaken in an underground facility filled with bizarre inhabitants and monsters. In your quest to find your way home, you’ll be aided by the Necro-Chef Simmer, who is willing to cook up the monstrous ingredients that you collect as you fight monsters.
There is a catch – your stomach is only able to eat seven different food items at once. You’ll have to let some of the perks go in order to change your skillset, and this is part of the appeal of customizing your playstyle. Some people may prefer having health recovery, while others may prefer a more offensively-suited seven course meal. Of course, just getting the ingredients will be a mighty task in of itself, so players should be ready to take whatever the bosses dish out.
As you progress through the game, you’ll get to interact and know more about Dungeon Munchies‘ bizarre cast, from the Necro-chef, to the voodoo “Lord of the Forest”, and more. While the game is unvoiced, the game is set to fully support English as well as both Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
