Eiyuden Chronicle Games Set To Release in 2022 and 2023

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, the Suikoden-like RPG from Rabbit and Bear Studios, will release in 2023. That’s a ways off, but Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play the game at release, as it will come to the Game Pass selection on day one.

A new trailer was aired during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase at E3 2021.

The trailer showed off character art and gameplay footage from Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Several characters that were added to the game as stretch goals for its crowdfunding campaign were shown. The game uses a “2.5D” perspective, with 2D sprites evocative of the Suikoden series moving on detailed 3D environments. The battle system will use a traditional 6-character system. The trailer also announced Eiyuden Chronicle Rising, a smaller title set to release in 2022. It appears to be a 2D fighting game or brawler that uses assets and characters from Hundred Heroes.

The game’s developer, Rabbit and Bear Studios, is comprised of JRPG development veterans. Studio head Yoshitaka Murayama worked on Suikoden 1 and 2. Director Osamu Komuta contributed to the Suikoden series, while other team members have worked on classic titles like Castlevania and Wild Arms.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and Eiyuden Chronicle Rising are in development and set for release on Xbox consoles and PC in 2023 and 2022, respectively. Though Hundred Heroes was previously targeted for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo hardware release as well, the official site no longer shows those platforms on the release slate.
