In the manga and the anime adaptation of Demon Slayer, Gyutaro is a demon affiliated with the Twelve Kizuki. He shares the Upper Rank Six position with Daki, his little sister. As a human, Gyutaro was traumatized by life in constant, grinding poverty. As a demon, he turns his envy and resentment those who live better than he had a chance to into cruelty and malice. He also has a penchant for self-harm, clawing at his own flesh when he’s in a negative mood. That said, he still displays genuine, doting affection for his sister, despite his tendency to verbally abuse her. In the Entertainment District Arc, he battled Tengen Uzui and Tanjiro Kamado.

As a The Hinokami Chronicles fighter, Gyutaro wields his own flesh as a pair of sharp, sickle-shaped Kama blades. He also can wield his own blood as a weapon, using his Blood Demon Art abilities. He can throw his blood as a form of projectile, and swallow his foe in a cloud of razor-sharp “blood sickles”.

Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The Gyutaro DLC arrives on November 16, 2022 in Japan.
