The Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles Tengen Uzui trailer shows off his talents and abilities expressed in the game. He wields his twin Nichirin Cleavers, two swords joined at the hilt by a chain. The Nichirin Cleavers have a circular notch in their cutting edges and have the phrase “Destroyer of Demons” (惡鬼滅殺) engraved on the blades. One of his ultimate moves involves knocking his foe into the air, surrounding them with his explosive black beads, and setting them off by throwing his swords at them.

Tengen is a key figure in the Demon Slayer series’ Entertainment District story arc, where he stands among the Demon Slayer Corps as one of its greatest swordsmen, the Sound Hashira. In the arc, Tengen, accompanied by protagonist Tanjiro Kamado and his friends, infiltrates an entertainment district to track down demons preying on the area’s courtesans. As the Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui has mastered his self-taught discipline of “Sound Breathing,” a fighting style that works in conjunction with his enhanced hearing and musical sense. Called the “Musical Score” (Fumen), Tengen mentally deconstructs his opponent’s patterns of behavior, assembling a sheet of musical notes to “read” for an edge in combat.

Tengen Uzui joins the Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles roster in July 2022. The expected price of the DLC is 550 Yen (about $4 USD) in Japan, with pricing to be determined for overseas copies. He’s also included on the game’s character pass, so players who bought it should have him unlocked at the appointed time. Other planned DLC characters include Tengen’s opponent Gyutaro, Daki, Nezuko’s Awakened form, and Entertainment District Arc variants of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke.  The game itself is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
