How to Pay Haruka’s Debt in Like a Dragon: Ishin

Once you get to Like a Dragon: Ishin chapter 4, you automatically unlock the second home as you progress through this story. This also means becoming an “uncle” to the orphaned Haruka. Which, in turn, means doing everything possible to ensure she doesn’t lose her home and continues running her family’s farming business. However, paying Haruka’s debt in Like a Dragon: Ishin might not be completely obvious immediately, as the game doesn’t note how to trigger the letters from the landlord that allow you to start repaying the 100 Ryo debt.

In order to repay Haruka’s debt, you’ll need to do so in 20 Ryo increments. I found I didn’t start getting letters saying the first, second, third, fourth, or fifth payments are due at your second home until I started earning money via Trade Orders at the farm. These are the orders for things like crops, fish, and prepared food. As you engage with this system, you’ll sometimes see a courier appear with letters letting you know you can pay the landlord in Fushimi.

Paying the landlord is easy. Once you come back from your second home, head to the northeast corner of Fushimi. The landlord will be standing at the shrine I’ve circled in the screenshot above. It is just north of the Komaki’s Dojo and Teradaya. You’ll also get kimono for Haruka to wear for doing so.

While I noticed I didn’t get the requests for payment until I started fulfilling Trade Orders, you don’t need to only use money from those to pay the debt. You can get them from tending the farm and cooking, or you could earn it by fighting enemies, playing minigames, or completing Battle Dungeons. As long as you get 100 Ryo via some method, you’re good. Also, don’t worry about trying to pay it all off as soon as possible or before reaching a certain chapter, as the landlord is surprisingly patient. There’s no time limit.

Like a Dragon: Ishin is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
