One of the first things you’ll want to do once you’ve reached Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is unlock the map. To do this, you must activate Skyview Towers. The Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower, in particular, isn’t so straightforward and requires you to find an alternate means of entry as it’s been snowed under. Here’s what you need to do.

Before you progress, ensure you have Cold Resistance, either from armor or an Elixir. Otherwise, Link will slowly take damage over time due to the harsh weather conditions here.

To get into the Skyview Tower and access the control terminal, head north from the main entrance and you’ll see a cave. Enter Meadela’s Mantle cave, and after a few steps, you’ll see some wooden boards by a river. Use Link’s Ultrahand ability to move one of the boards onto the water, then jump on them.

Ride it down the waterfall. Look ahead, and you’ll spot a wooden structure. Stay on the board, and as you float under the structure, quickly use the Ascend ability on the ceiling. You’ll warp through into the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower control room.

Activate the controls, then stand on the platform to launch into the air and unlock the Gerudo Highlands area on the map.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
