Koei Tecmo Publishes Streaming Guidelines For 33 Games

Koei Tecmo has published guidelines for uploading videos or screenshots of its games onto social media and streaming services. These rules specify 33 titles, including Samurai Warriors 5, Nioh 2, and Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. Koei Tecmo will continue to update this list as time goes on. [Thanks, Gamer!]

The entire list of guidelines is available on the Koei Tecmo website. Some of the titles that Koei Tecmo specify on the list have more restrictions than others. If the game involves characters from another company (for example, Hyrule Warriors), then you will need to check permissions from said company. In the case of Hyrule Warriors, you would use Nintendo’s guidelines or ask Nintendo for permission.

As mentioned previously, some games on the Koei Tecmo streaming guidelines list have more restrictions. For example, you cannot stream past Chapter 8 of Blue Reflection: Second Light. If you are streaming Dynasty Warriors 8, you cannot upload any part that has “King of The Street” playing in the background. For Samurai Warriors 5, you cannot upload anything after Honnoji stages no matter what chapter you are playing.

For more general restrictions, you cannot upload content as-is. This includes assets such as cutscenes and music. They all have to be part of your playthrough. You also cannot upload content that would count as spoilers, or videos that show you using cheats or hacks. While you are allowed to make money through ad revenue, you are not allowed to make money through outside means such as Super Chats.

Koei Tecmo is not the only game company to outline guidelines for streaming. Just earlier this year, Atlus announced several rules about streaming SMT V, and Aniplex published a streaming guideline for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles.
