At Tokyo Game Show we spotted something odd over at the indie booth section—a lady pedalling furiously in front of what looked like an arcade machine.
Upon closer inspection, we found she was playing Uwan’s Lightning Fighter 2, which is already out on iOS and Android. It’s a shoot-em-up, and they’d managed to set it up so players had to pedal on a stationary bike in order to fire their guns.
In an interview with AFP, one of Lightning Fighter 2’s developers, Lin Yule, said about the setup, “This is probably the first indie game that features exercise, and we developed this because we need physical exercise in a world dominated by applications.”
According to Yule, his business partner has already shed 8kg in two months of touting their wares.
