New Scarlet Nexus Gameplay Trailer Released for IGN Summer of Gaming

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

During the June 15, 2020 IGN Summer of Gaming stream, a new Scarlet Nexus gameplay trailer was released. The trailer gives us a great look at this heavily stylized, cross-gen action title from Bandai Namco and some of the talent behind the Tales of series. We also get a look at what appears to be the animation style used for certain sequences. The animation here uses that sort of deliberately framey CG we’ve seen in games like Guilty Gear Xrd and many anime projects.

As we know, Scarlet Nexus is about a soldier who fights bizarre monsters with psycho-kinetic powers. The descriptive text in the YouTube trailer uses the phrase “Brain Punk” to describe Scarlet Nexus‘s blend of technology and psychic powers, which is intriguing to say the least. Speaking of brains, the enemies (referred to as the Others) get sustenance from eating brains, which provides some sort of pain relief the creatures suffer from being in a constant state of mutation. Protagonist Yuito Sumeragi uses his psycho-kinesis to fight The others with the environment in addition to his own weaponry.

Scarlet Nexus will launch for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and the PC.

To get on his good side, say nice things about Dragon Quest and Musou. Never mention the Devil May Cry reboot in his presence. Backed Bloodstained on Kickstarter but all his opinions on it are correct regardless.
